Ancestor's Rage + AI
greaterlych
I've been having trouble figuring out why Ancestor's Rage is useful on heroes. I love the skill on my own bar but I've never seen the AI cast it once. I've tried different combinations of classes, weapons, and AI settings (Fight, Guard, Avoid) to no avail. Micro managing it is always an option but I like to use skills heroes run well themselves. Could someone please enlighten to me?

broken AI for ancestors rage on heroes, perhaps?

this has also come to my attention and i think its simply because hero AI do not like to cast enchants on other people by themselves. ive seen this happen with BiP builds, prot monk builds and more and i have had to macro while fighting which is a pain in the asss =(

Well I slap Ancestor's Rage on my Mind Blast Ele's and they tend to spam it quite often. Mind you I have noticed they mostly spam Ancestor's on physical classes more often then not from my experience. Like when I play on my Ele and I have my hero's setup with Ancestor's Rage they would tend not to use it for some odd reason. However when I'm using for example my Warrior or Paragon they spam AR like crazy. Again this is all from my experience.

Yep, I can confirm that this has been happening on my heroes as well. It's a shame because Ancestor's Rage is one of the best Channeling Skills out there >_<. It's just like any of the other skills that heroes never use unless forced to, such as Signet of Devotion.

Hmm, my heroes don't use it quite that simply. Even when I put them on Aggressive when I'm using a frontliner (Warrior, Dervish, etc.), I have yet to see them cast it on me. It even contradicts your statement about Eles using it because I've tested it on Zhed as well.
Marverick
They only use it if an ally is adjacent to 2 or more enemies. Quite stupid.
Stormlord Alex
They do use it, and use it fairly well (i.e., on a guy who actually has people next to him) but it seems there's a threshold to the number of people it must hit before they cast it - I've never seen them cast it on me as a 'sin/warr when I'm only wailing on one guy (firsthand experience, vanquishing Panjiang Peninsula a few days back - kinda annoying when it's just a Skull Healer left)

I've tried it in the Great Temple of Balthazar before. Me playing a warrior, attacking the 2 adjacent targets in the middle of one of the circles of targets and the hero still won't cast it. Maybe the threshold is 3+ enemies? I've tried it in PvE in different areas against different mob types. Still haven't seen it cast. Anyone have good experiences?
Cherng Butter
I've had it put on me plenty of times, but probably when I was surrounded by more than 1 enemy.
Cathode_Reborn
Yeah they only use it when there's multiple enemies. I'd rather it be used whenever it's available.
arsie
Yeah, they would only use it if a target is really surrounded by guys, but most of the time, the spell is so spammable, that we don't mind using it sub-optimally.
Unfortunately, we can't get the AI to do that. If you like the spell, macro it. I dropped it instead for Spirit Rift, they spam that. Oh well

I have never had problems. They will not cast it if theirs 1 enemy by itself. Most of the time they cast it on minions (which can be a problem). Because target level changes the amount of damage done. So sometimes it seems like it's not worth it if you have low level bone minions.
But yes, they have to have 2 enemies next to the ally to cast it.

manually cast it...microing your hero is way fun

Ancestors' Rage is a skill, not an enchantment.
Ive never had to micro AR, I quite like it on blindbots and necros, they just cast it when an enemy gets close to a player.

+1. I've only seen it used when it'll hit more than one foe.

But yes, they have to have 2 enemies next to the ally to cast it. This was fixed recently. The target's level has nothing to do with AR's damage now. I guess I've just been unlucky. I'll keep AR on my bar for a week or two and see if I notice it being cast.

Try switching target to the other adjacent one, they should use AR immediately if you do that.
Destromath
Maybe my heroes are just plain stupid >_<. I still have yet to see them use it after testing behind the Master of Damage (so that I'm adjacent to him and the 2 armor suits next to him). I've even tried all of the armor suits in the circles with no success.
