Are both these inscriptions exactly the same? If not, what's different about them, thanks.

Seize the Day is for Wands, Live for Today is for caster offhands.

So can I not add either of these inscriptions to a sword?

@ OP:

Yeah, Neither can be added to a sword. For a listing of every inscription and what they can be used on, check the wiki:

If you need more energy while using a non-caster weapon (axe, daggers, hammer, scythe, spear, sword), you can add a "I have the Power" inscription to the weapon for unconditional +5 energy. If you are wielding a one-handed weapon you can have a high energy focus instead of a shield in an alternate weapons slot. In any case, the two +15/-1 inscriptions are not recommended for use on your primary set because of the malus. Instead, make an alternate set and switch to it when necessary, then back again. Remember that more energy does not equal energy management

Yea hes right, losing those two pip increases might not seem bad, but in the long run its terrible, since the effects of the two cancel out in 30 seconds, its only used for emergencies. I personally use a +20e staff set for emergencies, sure its not the greatest, but it comes handy when im extremely low in energy, or a +60 health set for when im low in health.
