Elite Skills and Armour

Hi,

Could someone tell me how many elite skills you can have on your bar at any one time please?

and also explain how elite armour is supposed to be better than the higher rated other armour as I'm struggling to see a difference in the base stats.

You can only equip one elite skill at a time. You can always have 2 or more in your skill bar if you capture them but those will disapear when you change zones.

Elite armor has no difference in stats compared to normal armor, only the looks differ.

There is also a possibility to use the mesmer skill Arcane Mimicry to temporarily capture and use an elite of one of your allies.

One key point of GW is that it isn't your gear/equipment that matters, but your skill level. So all weapons (via collectors and greens) and armor (via the cheap regular armor) are easily obtainable so you can compete in PvP easily.
Stuff is expensive only if it is novelty (fancy looking weapons and armor).

Didn't someone bring 6 capture signet once and ended up with 7 elite skills?

The standard answer is ONE elite skill, but yeah, Signet of Capture and Arcane Echo, Echo, Arcane Mimicry, Inspire Hex, Inspire Enchantment and other skill stealing skills like that can potentially allow you to have more.

now you are only allowed 3 pve skills at one time (sig of capture is a pve skill) so the most you can cap at one time is 3---and if you have a elite on board then 4 total.

Very few areas have 6+ skills in 2 professions to be captured. However, you can do that by having an empty skill bar and then using elite tomes to learn 8 elite skills and put them on your bar at once. They all disappear when you zone into an explorable though so it does no good.
