I play a monk quite a bit and was wondering why monks are punished for trying to heal party members. If I'm using an attack skill and the foe dies before my skill can go off, I get the skill back and don't loose the energy. But if I am trying to heal a party member in trouble and he dies befroe my skills go off I loose the skill and the energy. The skill actually goes off on the dead person like he needs it now. So the question is why the double standard. Whats up? What does everyone else think?

I don't remember getting energy back if an el spell goes off while the enemy dies... But then again, I don't run into many e-management problems in PvE on my el.

You do lose the energy.
You pay first - then you get to use the skill.
So it's the same concept for both the monky and the other suckers.

If the attack skill has started, you do lose the energy/adren. No problem here.

If you're using a long cast time spell, you shouldn't be If you cast it RIGHT after he dies, as in you target him, cast, he dies before it casts, it targets you.

You never get the energy back when you hit the spell, even if it doesn't go off.

well key word being monk...best class for keeping an entire party up and running.... its not punished to healing party member its made to heal party member :/ you can go smite if you want but just make sure the other party member knows *that is if they haven't kicked you already*

Sure your reflexes aren't just beyond bad?

Or are you using only healing prayers - and no prot prayers at all throughout the entire team?

Lag is also a small factor here, you start to cast/attack and your foe is already dead but youve not been updated till the split second after you hit the skill.

To the OP: if you have GWEN, try taking patient spirit. It's a healing spell w/ a 2 second delay before it goes off. Cast it on a teammate as you're starting to engage the enemy, while their health is in the safe zone, and it'll trigger a few seconds later. It's a way of being a little more proactive...

this is actually wrong. i play monk all the time for PvP and if you cast the spell while target other ally is alive and s/he dies, the skill goes to ~3/4 activation and then automatically interupts it's self because there is no longer a target.

what YOU'RE talking about is if you are trying to heal target other ally (and if you're reflexes are too slow), and they die before you actually clicked the skill, then the AI will automatically reselect YOU, thus, healing yourself.
