I wonder how much merchants make a day
ectos taste nasty
You know, the ones all over town. I wonder how much they rake in per day from people selling their loot.
jimme
Ye I was wondering that a while ago.

Repair smiths in WoW probably make the most money than anyone else in any other game, like seriously.
quickmonty
Zero! Merchants pay you for the loot. The question should be "What do they do with all that loot?"

Nomme Moon
Yeah, I was going to say, they're paying *you*....they don't make a penny. And considering most of their items don't sell much, I'd assume they're very much in the negatives.
Terra Xin
Merchants are dumb traders, that's why we have 'real' money makers like Rare material traders.

Then sell them back for more.
I bet they are rich.

Enough to buy a set of Obsidian and then some. Not that Obsidian armor is all that expensive anymore.

The Life of a Merchant
*ponders to himself* If I buy one more high req Gladius, I may be able to finally finish constructing that toilet handle, so I can flush the damn thing. I wish some idiot would sell me a Voltaic Spear, so I could catch that bloody wierd looking shark that ate my dog, down in Lion's Arch. Maybe even a crap shield I could use as an umbrella to stop the mountain eagles using me as doo-doo target practice...

Would be nice to see those statistics, like how much material/dye traders make per day from buying low and selling high, which merchant gets the most business in the game world, how much gold players generate per day (and how much they spend), etc.
Oh, and of course, how much money goes down the Boardwalk drain in a weekend event.

Most of the crap that gets merched, wouldn't even be wanted by the merchants. They'd just salvage it and sell to the Materials guys. So it's THOSE guys who would make the most.
fearfactory
don't you guys ever wonder who supplies the enemies with their weapons? sheesh. Simple.. Black market FTW..
draxynnic
Actually...
My guess would be that the merchants turn it around and sell it to NPCs looking to build an army. So what's merch fodder for you could be going to the White Mantle, the Shining Blade, and so on depending on who you sell it to. When building an army, getting a large number of weapons reasonably cheaply becomes a higher priority than getting the perfect weapon. It's not like you're going to be able to equip an army at 5k a pop from the weapon crafters, after all...
"Precious" weapons would be going into collections, museums, and used for ceremonial purposes. The "Show Me The Money" insignia is a little weirder, but it may produce some sort of glamour for the weapon that makes it appear to be Precious.

Never thought how rich they would be with all the things that 'accidently' get merched like ectos, shards, lockpicks etc.. when you click to fast...
But they must be pretty rich xD

Dallcingi
They are very rich cause they resell the items you sell them for 150% profit.

The REAL question is...how much do henchmen and heroes make a day?
Redfeather1975
I was once running around an explorable area and saw some merchants with big sacks selling all their vendor trash to monsters.
Monsters have money and probably sentimental attachments to things taken off their killed friends and would pay anything for them back.

1. Buy millions of non-max white weapons

Oh, the merchants use their super secret Salvage Kits they only keep to themselves, to salvage all the items into Ectos. They then chip in at the Rare Material Trader.
And what does the Rare Material Trader do? Easy! He makes a fortune re-selling them to lazy eBay goldbuyers who want easy FoW!

interesting question, but probably billions+...++?...+++?.
minus the amount they buy from players....++amount they make from traders(kits etc)....money pretty much recycles. (to us, to them haha...endless)

they only time the mercents make money is when the normal player is says CRAP and sells something they shouldn't have sad but true it is a way for the game to get rid of excess stuff that nobody in there right mind would keep or use
