Overhead Health Bars
Havekk
Hello all, I'm rather new to the game and I was wondering if there was anyway to disable or shrink the health bars over the head of my target. Although I know this is helpful, it's really killing my gaming experience here. I know I'm a little weird but I like no names, health bars, titles... well anything displayed as it tends to kill the emersion factor for me. I'm not talking about the one at the top center (default), I mean the one directly over the targets head. This http://download-v5.streamload.com/65...sted/gw001.jpg big green one.
Please let me know if this can be done. I really appreciate it!

Hit F11 in game and go to interface, from there click the bar and adjust to your liking or move it anywhere.

thanks for the quick response. That seemed to work with the health bar for the target on the top of the screen, but not with the one that appears directly over there head as in my screen shot. Should it work?
RPGmaniac
He's not talking about that one, Pink. He's talking about the green one that appears over a target's head when you mouse over them.
And there is no way to turn that off without some sort of texmod. Since you said you're new, I'm assuming you don't know what Texmod is. Texmod is probably the only 3rd party program Anet will not ban you for using (they have said this themselves). What it does is alters the graphics in game, but only you see them. There are mods to help cartographers, there are mods that make adrenaline stand out more as you gain it, there are mods to change certain shields into the ones from 300 or an XBox logo. There's a lot more than what I just mentioned, but that should give you an idea of what it can do.
There might be someone willing to make such a texmod if enough other people want one.

Thanks!
I'll do some look see into this texmod you speak of. It's odd that they would not make a way to turn that off. It's an eye sore to a beautiful game...lol.
Thanks again.

Well ctrl + shift + h will make all the interface disappear, but that includes radar and skills.

Now, if someone could just tell me how the hell to make a mod to get rid of the bar, i'd be in ship shape....lol

Well, I have texmod and I have been able to select and log the texture in question. Now it's just a matter of making it transparent or small enough so it won't bug me. Nothings working so far, it's just leaving a black spot where it used to be green over their heads...lol

To my knowledge, you cannot change the size of textures, or remove them... just change how they look. If you can figure out a way to make it transparent, or some other "color" that is barely visible, that would be the way to go. I think on some.... "things".... the transparent color turns out to be some sort of fuschia-like color - but I can't remember what app that is used in -_-
So good luck, and please post if you find anything out.
Havekk
Yes, I'm finding out you can't really change the size the hard way..lol. I'm using Gimp 2 to attempt to make the texture transparent, but no luck yet. I'm teaching myself this stuff on the fly...lol

A note about Texmod - If you feel that those green bars spoil your game experience, wait until you see all the graphic glitches that Texmod causes.
Havekk
Yes, I imagine if you change a lot of textures this would be the case. In just changing this one area, I don't anticipate too many issues. I have changed the color, haven't experienced any glitches yet.
Can anyone teach me how to make the texture transparent? It just keeps showing up black of all white. I'm using Gimp 2.4 at the moment, but will have access to photoshop shortly.
Thanks,
