As GW2 gets Closer, GW1 will...........

Hey this might be a fun little game we can all play, to see what Arenanet will do once GW2 becomes close to being released. Now We know that is a little ways off, but we can use past history of games. Stuff companies do to get people to play the newer game to pad their bottomlines. So here we go
Stuff I would like Anet to Do
*Start To Make the titles in Guild Wars 1 easier to obtain so they can transfer over to Guild Wars 2 Via Hall of Monuments
*Lower the Price for all the GW1 games and campaigns to Draw more people into the Guild Wars World
*Add little nuances and NPCs to start pumping up GW2 such as introducing the Sylvari in Towns and do quests for them to introduce their lore a bit.
Stuff that will probably Happen
*Start to do stuff in GW1 which makes it impossible to fully Enjoy Guild Wars 1 making people Buy Guild Wars 2 (such as what Blizz did with Diablo 2, making a patch that made the game virtually impossible to play the Game without purchasing Lord of Destruction before the expansion was even released)
*In Game Support will be neglected and the game economy will go to crap

I can see them shortening grind elements in the original GW games when GW2 comes out. So that people who never played GW would want to grab that too and work on HoM stuff for their GW2 character.
Maybe they will have an event in GW1 right before GW2 comes out to promote it.
They might add some quests or elements in GW1 after GW2 comes out to advertise elements in GW2, directed at players who haven't considered trying GW2 yet.

by then the servers for gw will have shut down due to their inability to do any upkeep to them because they have been spending too much time working on gw2....and by then all of the players will have been soo pisssssed off they wont buy gw2, it will fail and anet will wonder 'wtf'???.....
another gw2 thread, will be happy when the dang thing comes out just so we can get rid of the threads!

Make titles easier to get in HoM. None of them are hard just time consuming. /notsigned Make Hardmode HARD for a change.
Buddhaofwar
they will probably do something like they did with GWEN, and have strange things roam around towns to subtly advertise, without actually telling you what its for. Or maybe they'll just flood Lions Arch early =D

Yeah you know, just think about what they did when Factions was anounced, that Luxon/Kurzick thing in Kryta. I guess something like that might happen, but ince GW2 is anentirely new game using newer mechanics, i don't think they'll recreate parts of GW2 into GW1. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Nemo the Capitalist
oh man grinding all that mummy was for nothing oh well
guess i can FAIL at life more fun than faliling in Gw

I hope they get skill balance right before releasing GW2. THat way I could enjoy GW1 for quite a while. Imho what happens to GW1 (especially PvP) is hoing to depend on how good GW2 will be.

WTF D2 is from Gw makers :f
but yeah game prices allready low i think everyone probably has money for em just they dont wanna buy em so we wouldnt get more players for that.
Then titles. they shouldnt be made easyer most of em allready pretty easy and we dont know does they even have any meaning in gw2 so why bother?

Wanna-be hardcore Gw2 player probably would get Gw1 to get titles and stuff to get status thingie. And if whatever needs to be done would be doable quickly and painlessly, much more people would buy Gw1 copies along with Gw2.
Also, easy pimped out HoH would help to convert more people to GW2: a) nothing left to do in gw1, b) geez, now i will get those gw2 thingies (and be leet like Pleikki!), lets try it out!
Its good financial call which would only hurt game that people would not play much anyway.
I have no illusions about that.

Uhhmm, why would they want to make titles easier to get? The whole point of the HoM is that you can show history with the game. If they were to make it easier then any new player can go buy the old games for 5 bucks a pop, rush some titles and have the same benefits as people who spent years on this.
I THINK NOT!!!!!
Unless they really want to turn the HoM around and use it to piss their original fan base off.

I think it's best to leave this as a "we'll find out when it happens" since speculation never leads anywhere useful.
Also, did the title make anyone else think of Calculus Limits? Now I want to start writing equations.

The game will continue the slow downward spiral into stupidity and corruption it began about a year ago, until everyone realizes they'd much rather play GW2.
And if people still don't get it, I guess ANet can always buff Ursan even more (it's not insta-win yet) and make every weekend a double grind weekend.

I'd like to see GW1 turned into a Second Presearing.
Where everytinh is cheaper and easier, and then you can move to the next part of the game without being able to go back once you have made everything you could there with your character.

Ouchie
How about a week long - All faction all bounties all blessings all hunts all Areas being 10X the rate - I'd like to see that
maybe next week when I am off work
hint hint hint
oh and maybe introduce perma never break lockpicks and a really cheap version that always breaks

i'll still play GW1 because i first wanna see what GW2 has to offer in previews and reviews and then i'll think about stepping over to GW2
but right now i'm having my fun with GW1 so i'll stick with that

titels char based instead of acount based.. ruin your play time over several
character during the last almost 3 years.
I just hope that they still wil put some effort in GW 1 when GW 2 will come out.
GW 1 on it self is a great game, it just need some new elements..crafting .other
kinds of drops ( like ingridients for making things as for expample consumables)
And of course let us use more of our hero's wich we are so proud of.
Than GW could be playd as a real RPG after GW 2 is out. they even can make
easely some new quests. There are enough places for exapmle in prophecies
wich could be related to quests. Take the dragonboss from out Temple of Ages
to the Jungle. Wouldnt that be great if there where some side story's around
those kind of things.
There could easely be more side story's beside the redline.
So Anet ... dont be Selfish and give the GW1 core players new chalanges
couse grinding for titles is no challange its nerve killing.
stretchs
heh, gotta love these threads. If I had a peso for every thread like this that really has no idea what is going to happen, none of us do, I would be able to at least eat at taco bell once a week

Think about it folks, Guild Wars is a business based on sales of games not on per monthly billing, once GW2 is released sales of GW1 games will fall out and without money coming into the game Anet will close servers running GW1. to keep GW1 going when there is no profit in it for them to do so is bad business. i see GW1 fading quickly after the release of GW2.
My personal belief is that HoM is a scam to keep people occupied till the release of GW2 and then Anet will announce they have yet to get the transition of stuff from GW1 to work on GW2 since the game mechanics and stuff are different.
The only way HoM can work is if GW2 is linked to GW1 the way Factions is linked to Prophesies, which means ppl will have to have how ever big the install file for GW2 will be +the files from GW1 filling up their HD's.
Personally i will wait till after GW2 release to see how things work b4 i spend my money on it.

It will carry on, but it will lose some players at the same time.

Why make GW 1 easier to grind to completion when GW2 has far more grinding crap?
All the information about GW2 shows that it has a load more grinding then GW1. Including higher levels..

well what's obviously likely to happen is such.
Gw1 will still be gamed by the core GW1 gamers for the PVP and some aspects of the PVE.
People will continue to buy and play GW1 (like all 1st series games in sets. Starcraft, Diablo...)
things in GW1 will become slightly easier, and everything more attainable.(Not drastic, just enough that you notice, i.e gold drops will increase. As well as weapon value.
Quests and Missions will be easier in NM, and considerably harder in HM.
GW2.
There will be subtle advertisements like in all the campaign releases. Little people marching around screaming that a great dragon is coming to end the world.
More little animals fleeing for their lives uncontrollably.
And of course, the one thing that no one will expect.
A free pizza party for everyone with a 3yr account. Flavours include, Hawaiian, Pepperoni, Cheese, Meatlovers, Vegetarian, and Greek. Pop is 75g per tonic bottle, and candy corns will be 150g each.

Just like no computer game ever lasted forever, GW will not. However; I still think there will be a lot of fun left in GW to have after the release of GW2. Maybe after GW2 is released and people find out that their titles mean nothing their, GW1 players will stop grinding some lame PvE titles, and start having fun for a change.

People still play pacman and tetris daily. Just the other day I picked up Diablo II again. Over Christmas I replayed the original Discworld game, and last year I replayed the original Monkey Island. Master of Magic is another game I return to every other year or so. I used to be in a Wheel of Time clan, which still meets up every other year to play the game.
I doubt I've explored more than 25% of the content Guild Wars has to offer, and I plan to keep on playing it for at least another two to three years. (Which I can do, as Anet has stated that they'll keep the servers up and running as long as there'll be players.) It also wouldn't surprise me at all if Guild Wars turns out to be one of those games that I'll continue to have fond memories of for decades to come, making me hop back in to wander through pre-searing whenever the mood strikes me. And I really hope Anet will keep up a server instance or two for all that time, or that when they finally abandon the servers, they'll allow the fans to run their own instead.

Now We know that is a little ways off, |
On-Topic: Would be cool if they did those things, but they'll preserve the game just as it is, imo. Keep people playing what they love, as I'm sure some won't move on to GW2.
Price drop would only make sense.

Even the Pong game has came back more than once. (The last version I saw was called Virtua Tennis or something like that, XD)
I entered Battle.Net some days ago, and Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo I and II were swarming with people.

They will Probably use cheaper servers
