I've been reading much about the supposed benefits in GW2 due to title acquisition in GW1 but I read a comment in another thread about people coming back to GW1 to atain a certain title to have that benefit attributed to their favourite character name or whatever shape it takes form in in GW2.

My question is if the bonuses (regardless of how cosmetic or unsubstantial they turn out to be) aren't known until after the introduction of GW2 and you already have your character created and then decide you really wanted that said bonus will you be able to go back to GW1 acheive that title and have the bonus become available in the already created character? Sort of like purchasing a bonus or something.

Gaile...any answer...?

No one really knows how this is going to work. All you're really going to get is speculation, unfortunately.

Actually this is a good question which I was thinking about last week too. If not answered in time I gonna wait a bit before purchasing gw2 to read about it on wiki or another fansite. Or start with a testcharacter. Don't know yet.

Probably. But that's the only answer you'll get for now.

Yeah they should clear things up.... but as far as I know there won't be a way to return to GW1 once you get to GW2 with your account

What's been said so far, is that you can bring only one character through. That is, get the bonuses on one character.

That's what I heard anyway...

From what I've heard, so take this with a grain of sand, but basically when you make a new character in GW2, you'll be linking that character to one of your GW1 characters. This linking can be done only once, meaning you can't make 4 GW2 characters and link them all to the same GW1 character. Basically it's as though your GW2 character is an old relative of your GW1 character and is being given the keys to the treasury from that character. Again, grain of sand.

Not worth spending 1,000+ hours filling your HoM for, I can almost guarantee you that.

Here is probably the most info you can get about the HoM and the rewards it gives.

Shot in the dark would be that once you create a GW2 char *and* tie it to a GW1 char you can't make improvements on it. However I would suspect you could delete said GW2 char and then up the HoM of your GW1 char then create a new GW2 char.

Total guess, but it does have some logic to it.

The Hall of Monuments transfers achievements from character to character
makes it sound as if you can have more than one character transfer to more than one character in GW2

so DudeA(GW1) goes to DudeA(Gw2)
and Dudeb(gw1) goes to Dudeb(gw2)

thats just how I read it if I am wrong can someone point me to the correct information

I'm sure this has been asked elsewhere (i'm at work and haven'g got the time to filter through posts with the search button)...

In regards to GW2 beta. Can some explain how this works.

1. would current GW players be invited or is only people with some game programming experience that are invited.

2. can you apply to be gw2 beta even if u dont have any experience in programming?.

3. is there any news on when a beta might start.

again sorry, and to op sorry for hijacking your post.

It has been said that there will be a time limit on filling the Hall of Monuments for it to be transferred to Guild Wars 2. Jeff Strain stated in an interview with Ten Ton Hammer that "I can't imagine that we'll let somebody coming into Guild Wars six months after Guild Wars 2 ships and letting them have rights to all of the same opportunities our original players had."
So its official, few months after GW2 is released, HoM is closed. Seems like "wait and see" people will get mild groinkick.

gw2 rewards for having gw1 titles will be completely laughable and nothing to give u an advantage over real player.
anyone grinding titles thinking to get the uber crystalline haxorsword of noobslaying is kindly invited to stop grinding. go for titles if u like the game and wanna keep playing it.

titles ---> titles in gw2
armors, weapons ---> different skins in gw2, same stats as regular weapons
minipets ---> most likely an exclusive gw2 minipet, customized

That's pretty much how I've read it from all the info I've seen as well.

The only thing that bothers me about setting up my character for GW2 right now is whether, once they've been created, we'll be blocked from adding any more shineys to the HoM for them to benefit from.

Saraphim is my main, and I always create her first in any game, but until we get concrete info on how the HoM is translated I've pretty much given up on it. The only section that isn't "full" for her (AFAIK it's 20 minis / 5 armour / 5 heroes / 5 titles / 11 Destroyer Weapons) is the weapons, and I'm too much of a tight arse to blow all that cash on 8 weapons that only her heroes are likely to use.

Having an HoM for a character reserves that name for GW2. So I've made sure that all my characters have their HoM, even if it's empty.

I knew I'd read that somewhere, but can never find it to link to it.

There will definitely be hell to pay if that actually happens. Seriously wtf? Just from an economic point of view its good for them to give new players an incentive to buy guild wars 1 games after guild wars 2 is out. I won't believe they are this stupid without a link.

since when is doing anything in a video game worth 1,000+ hours of your life?

Why do people keep making these threads when obviously no one knows much of anything about Guild Wars 2?
