i had a few suggestions for your next survey. try to be more specific to some of your questions and desired responses. for the education maybe ask high school, some university, graduated university, graduate school, ect. it will give you more specific results. also choose better words better than pride. i may be proud of my country, guild, or faction, but that doesn't mean i agree with them completely or like everyone there for examples. you could also go with a number system like on a scale from 1-5 where one is worst and 5 is best how do u like your guild. hope this helps. fast survey and having the in game reward was a good idea to have people take the survey. good luck!

thank you for such a positive response so far - we are averaging 100 people a day - we got loads more room for people to take the survey between now and April 4th.
Household income is not that important for us, so don't worry about leaving it blank if you feel uncomfortable about it - it is one of those things in the social sciences that is a variable that if you miss out people will ignore your work and talk about that instead.
The project is a pilot study looking at group loyalties online - my main PhD topic is on violence as political communication but I have two sub-projects on group identities - this one and one more closely related to my topic.
There is a box for other on national identity for people to use - however, I have made a note of the Kurdish instead of Iranian and I will change it when I input the data for analysis.
We have had a couple of people put in offensive answers - they just get deleted at the input stage. However, most people have been really positive and we are very grateful - thank you.
I am willing to share my conclusions end of June, if people are interested but I will not be linking igns with answers - so you won't find out what your guildies think of you - lol.
Please tell your friends in the game about the survey - the more people the better the results

Answered and I find the subject pretty interesting =), I would suggest something though. Your questions are too PvE oriented and you should ask more questions about Heroes ascent (American guilds etc.) and GvG (same thing).

I was going to participate in it even though I quit my guild, but the options there didn't support that line. I mean if you wanted to look at a case for virtual nationalism, shouldn't you also leave open the options that people don't want to be a part of a guild or who quit their last guild and never joined another one in order to get a more balanced look at it? Logically isn't there a flaw in that line of reasoning for virtual nationalism if you only look at the people who might have such a thing (which I would call something else really)? Sorry for the questions, but your professors might call you on the idea.

You didnt state in which currency do you want us to state the household income, and the form doesnt accept signs and letters. I assumed you mean american dollars, but in case you meant euro, or any other currency, the data filled by me may not be correct.
Also, with kurzick/luxon faction, which number did you need?
On the faction tab of the hero window, it says that i have earned 105k faction, while on the title tab it says i have earned 171k faction (because donating to the alliance counts double for the title).
Ive earned relatively little faction so this may not matter that much, but for someone who has earned much more, it might be a bigger problem.
