Doing charting I used the Necrotic Transversal trick of killing a Dune Scarab and getting to the other side of the gate. Being a warrior I could not use a rebirth and get the H/H to sac and be reborn on the other side, but there is a strange glitch that magically allows the heroes to cross over. It does require some strange maneuvers to get it right. Is this a common twist or does it only occur in Dunes of Despair? Leaving the Ghostly Hero standing at the open gate, not killing the enemy Ghostly hero you are then free to explore the whole bottom area at leisure, picking up bonus if you do not have it yet. There are the 2 gates that you can walk through even though their drawbridges did not come down. Is this another glitch on purpose to allow you to complete the bottom left corner?

i have done transversal thing with a friend and heros(necro/monk hero transversal/rebirth) rest sac to death, many times..

and was unaware of any glitch..for H/H.

just get over sac a hero with a vamp weapon and move vamp wep so you sac all the heros.....then rebirth one with the sig or the sunspear one.... then have a monk or monk secondary rebirth the other 2 it works just the same you all just have 15%dp which is fine if your doing in normal.....

I have seen heros "warp" to my position. I couldn't reproduce it but I have seen it happen. It was not in DoD though, Can't remember it was a long time ago. So I would think it's a bug.

if you send them through a portal they will come back to you however i dont think there is one in DoD to do this on. It used to be a handy glitch in the deep for 9 hero teams tho.

I discovered this glitch a while ago when doing this mission with a Necromancer friend. We were getting ready for the move heroes to stand and be killed by the 2 dune scarabs for rebirth in the front of the fort and were surprised by the fact they had found their own way out of the fort. Months later we were mapping for cartography and relied on the fact our heroes would find their own way. Unfortunately on that trip I had a network failure after getting the bonus done, but before clearing the bottom left corner and I could not reconnect. Being at 99.7% I went to do this corner again 2 days ago and got the extra 0.1% for that corner. The fact of the imaginary dropped moat bridge in the left corner also helped.

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

If you didn't flag your herohench when venturing outside, they will get outside the fort as soon as it cannot be seen on your radar. There are two possible explanations for this. Either, to save resources, the game engine doesn't verify the status of any conditional passage that is beyond the radar distance of any player in the instance (and thus, when you're far away the herohench can go through as if the gate was open), or then there is a snippet of code which recognizes when a herohench is stuck and tries to 'unstuck' it by warping it randomly around, only in this case the warping goes right through a supposedly impermeable obstacle (actually, there is a glitch in the game that makes it possible for a player to walk through a closed door).

This is a common glitch, easily exploited in That Mission,
If you read the wiki mission guide it tells u that its one of the best ways to get the bonus.

no need to vamp all your heros, just run off and they appear once u un flag them, then if you are H/H everyone is the other side with no dp, simple as

The vamp-and-rebirth trick was introduced when pugging was the only way to go. Shortly after the introduction of heroes we discovered their gate-ignoring tendencies

That heroes/henches will run through the walls if you teleport across have been known for at least two years.

Basically it's a known glitch/exploit in Dunes of Despair.

If heroes get stuck, usually as a result of NT, they will, after some time, teleport to your position.

This can be used in several mission, but it only has practical use in Dunes.

I've managed to get them to do that in Frost Gate, and I think somewhere in maguuma jungle.

NT messes with AI, and rather than letting them remain stuck, you get a little help. I believe it only works with full H/H team.

My gf discovered this while mapping that area in Dunes where you get the bonus. She got herself over there and left the heros...but they suddenly turned up out of the blue, running to her as if they'd climbed the fortress walls...hehe.

I managed to use this trick recently to get HM bonus. I killed the scarb and necro traversed over. I then ran away so they were just on the edge of my map. Placed a flag at my feet and then ran back to where i had left them. Voila they had scaled the wall and were moving towards me. I was then able to get the bonus.

In general, I hate this mission/bonus the most out of all others. I can't stand playing with a timer ticking down the seconds on me. I'm glad they had this "feature" so that I could complete the bonus without having to raise my blood pressure.

I forget where I read this (here or incgamers) but you can force this to happen.

Just flag your heroes some where, move far enough away that they are grayed out on your party bar. Release the flag and they well start popping up nearby you and run to you.

I had to do this when I was vanquishing Sacnoth Valley. I didn't realize I had a quest active that closed up the gates of the fortress, so I used the siege devourer trick to get in the fort (enter devourer, run up against a gate and exit, you will be on the other side if you do it just right) and then flagged the hero/hench away, and then released the flag and they popped up within the camp.

Fun stuff.

You can get the same effect without having to move away yourself (risking attack by popups). Just flag the heros/henches to a point well outside radar range (in the Dunes example, back past the main fort drawbridge is usually far enough), then unflag them and they'll teleport to you (after a delay which I think represents the time for them to run from the flag to the edge of your radar).
