Not sure if any 1 noticed this
some guy
Well, I was blowing up dinosaurs (Rata Sum is my ele's home). I got about 4 of those rly ugly green broodmother daggers, so i decided to id them.
so apparently, same greens id differently. ( all ided from the same kit, and ided on same char)

Clever, the item values for some are greater...
If I had a place to farm huge amounts of a particular green, I'd go test, but I don't have a place to farm all that stuff so... yeah -.-

Got results just like yours from IDing 3 stormbringer.
If i keep farming those they'll be worth about the same as the price tag they have

I've known it for ages Greens base value at 35 gold, ID'd are more than 35... but I've yet to see anything greater than 70 gold value.
Steps_Descending
So they have a basic value and IDing them adds a random value to them... If I remembered the price for an ID kit, I'd check if you actually make profit from this.
Rexion
maybe it depends on the time of day you ID'd/it dropped. O.o
or the dinomommy wasn't pregnant with another dinobaby... so it lost value?
weird.

It's always been this way, Greens and pretty much any weapon/shield are apart of the random merchant price.

One day I started to randomly id different items. Apparently there are items you can waste 1 use of id kit but not get any extra info out of it (example: minipets)
But one item was pretty interesting: a Celestial Sigil! Apparently they can have any "value" ranging between 1000 - 2000g.
I Ident all my sigils i get
A typical id'ed sigil looks like that:
And my phat Perfect 1 in a thousand one:
Also, any Sigil bought from Sigil Trader will always have value 1 plat and will come already identified.

It happens with everything, id prices are random with limits. So, no matter if you are id'ing a green or a white that are exactly the same they will more then likely come up a different price.

Yeah ive noticed that ;D its kinda cool

Why do people id greens?

For fun I guess?

@some guy: have you identified those greens in any particular order? or can remember the order they dropped?
I ask because I see an interesting and disturbing pattern while id'ing my sigils, I have a feeling it may not really be random but it's a diminishing returns formula.
In fact the first one I've ever identified was that max 2k one, then I had some 1,7xx 1,6xx and lower ones (about 15 of them total), yesterday one was that 1,223g and my today's 3 were id'ed in this order: 1,102g, 1,097g, 1,001g (this may be the lowest possible value as identification always adds value).
All id'ed on the same character (this may be a factor).
I haven't recorded any data on the older ones because I realised the strange pattern today with the last 3.
In fact I've seen this very same pattern while testing "Show me the Money" inscriptions after seeing that thread with 615g daggers. I id'ed 5 of them and every one was cheaper than previous one (started around 130g, last ones were 102g and 97g), but as it was only 5 I thought it was just random.
Out of pure boredom, I'd be interested in testing some drop patterns like that, but they have to involve exact identical items (like copies of the same green, the same mod, or sigils). Farmed something in multiples that can be id'ed to show it's value? Id and post results ;d

Yea,i have been ID'ing my zhenheluns'(sp?) longbows for some time.I can't get rid of them for free :s

I can confirm item values are random and they are generated at the moment where you identify them.
Terra Xin
just imagine if that had the effect that the prices have on req weapons. lol.
WTB Sskai's Sword worth 200g - paying 100k +10e. haha!

If you get some a pruple drop the Rune/Upgrade is already set, that will not change same as the value.
I know this because over a year ago when ANet were having issues with their servers and they kept crashing, but still allowed people in explorables areas to carry on playing. However everything you killed and the drops you got wouldn't exist when you restarted the game. So I ID'ed all my drops because we were stuck out of town, got bored and eventually reset guild wars to find half my drops have vanished and non of them had been ID'ed.
So again I when through them hoping for some nicer runes and such. But everything I had was exactly the same even down to the merch prices. (I rember thinking that 53g was better than the 25g I'd get if i took the rune off and such.)
