Identifying Green Items
MagicWarrior
Finally got my first Totem Axe dropped after so many times of trying. Put it in my storage and thought it was a nice addition to my collection of Greens.
Then... out of curiosity... it crossed my mind to use an Identification Kit on it to see what would happen (and if it would show the value of it).
Sure enough... it did... and the value of my new Totem Axe was an incredible 37g. Did the same on The Ice Breaker... and it shows 40g as its value.
Not a big deal... but I think it's an eye sore that it took me so long to get a Totem Axe drop... to see 37g staring at me when I look at it.
I'm going to go and farm a new Totem Axe and Ice Breaker... but was wondering, have I just ruined these items in terms of looks or value (not that they're really worth much)?

Uhhh don't really think you "ruined" the value or anything, but then again almost all of the greens don't have any value at all anyway.

No, you haven't.
It's value is the same depending on the economy....but the GW economy does kinda fail.

The value is still the same, and they still look the same apart from the extra line of text. Don't get so worked up about it

Same thing if you click on merchant and sell you can see its value, not sure if it changes with an id tho.
the value sint ruined, still serves its purpose

37g is sweet.. Most of mine from memory seem to come in at 35g.. Maybe that's y I stopped Id'ing them.

I always ID them and keep the highest value ones, XD.
I'd like to see one with a value higher than 100g.
Just an useless amusement.

Merchants value don't mean much. It's what players offer for it which counts. The merchants also don't participate in the economy system. That's why you never should sell materials to a common merchant but always to the material trader (or other players).

All (dropped) greens are worth 35g unidentified to the merchant, if you ID them its like a white, you get a varying amount extra, sometimes not worth the cost of the ID kit, but usually it is, they value can go over 50.

Thanks for the interesting responses (was half worried I'd be flamed for such a minor nit-picking thing).

Merchants will buy most greens for low values (and then sell them at the black market for big money and get fabulously rich off YOUR farmwork).
