There was a discussion in my Alliance Chat today, and it was stating that it is bannable to run characters to drok's and over 100 people have been banned for it etc. Is this true, or just a rumour?

guild? I am supposed to have a guild?

while they dont ban people for running ---its said that they dont like it either. The only banning I know of was when they were taking low level characters to outposts that they could not have gotten to with the maps they had ---taking a new dervish to kill abbadon type runs....

hmm.. i don't believe what cosyfiep said is correct. i know countless people who ferried people to towns through this method and they're still perfectly fine. in fact, i even ferried about 10 times myself. the ban you are talking about if probally the one where you can go to ANY explorable area instantly. 'but', this WAS considered an exploit, and those people were all banned (the people who went to farm mallyx)

but hey.. i could be wrong... i just know as far i've heard ANet never banned anyone for the ferrying glitch.

yes that was what I was referring too----though I dont think many people got banned even for that one---(some did, there were threads------).

but No in general running is not bannable.

Running is not supported by ANet in any way, but is not a bannable offense.

Which means you can't get banned for running, also can't get banned for scamming a run.

ANet has never banned anyone for traditional ferry. The people who got banned were ferry'd by someone who used a hacked client to get to a forbidden zone in the game that the designers used to make DoA possible. I imagine the people who were banned for this kept getting ferry'd to this place(whether they knew they were exploiting or not) and thats why they were banned along with the hackers.

This is not a bannable offense. Your guildies are probably confusing droks ferry with a guild hall ferry exploit. People were using the leave GH function to party with others who had not been to an area, and transport them to towns and outposts they had never been to.

This is how some people also got max damage equipment into pre-searing. I've heard that Anet has banned a few people over this ferry. the droks run is a long standing feature of GWP; like it or not, its a part of the game and I know few people who haven't at least tried it once.

Running in the traditional sense is not bannable. Ferrying someone through the use of a glitch, while not necessarily enforced, 'could' be considered bannable as you are abusing a bug to do it. Generally speaking though, glitch ferrying (ie consulate docks ferry), is generally a very minor offense and as such, ANet tends to turn a blind eye towards it.

That is what the 117 incident was about.
