yet another GW pop culture reference.
Sleeper Service
As i was idly watching TV while having lunch something caught my eye.
here is a screenshot of the silver eagle armour.
and here is a screencap of a scene in Xena (Se 5 :Chakram)
The costumes were probably the best things about that show...case in point
the prop director at the time was Roger Murray who...well his CV speaks for itself.
someone in the Anet art dep is a fan...own up!
=p

Solas
all those little pop-culture things really add to the game imo, i like them
garethporlest18
I don't see the Xena screencap so I dont' know what's going on.
Longasc
Having Jaguar/Eagle or other helmets and stuff seems to be more likely to hint after aztec influences. The inital plan for the scrapped chapter IV had many more aztec influences
The Hercules/Xena gear is pretty generic fantasy stuff from all kinds of sources, and if you look long and hard enough, you can even find Jora's armor in "Conan the Destroyer" or in Xena or in Highlander.
I am not entirely convinced that this armor was the template, sorry.

Same here, no screencap.
Stormlord Alex
I think the OP is blind. The Silver Eagle set is completely different.
Yoshikuni Mahsu
They dont look at all alike.
Gift3d
Same ... i see no likeness between the two. I mean they both have a silver scaly texture on the helmets, but it's not even in the same place or design, and the rest of the armor's just entirely different.

Sorry, but I don't see how those two "armors" are even related (except the colors, but that doesn't count).
Shakti
Sorry OP not seeing any resemblance at all other than color sorta....and they're both metal? No design similarities really. I do love the references but don't think this is one...
BlackSephir
Maybe I'm stupid but, uh, they're not even similiar
[Morkai]
<3 Xena Warrior Princess :P
AGEs since i saw that.
Btw @ OP, the similarity is minimal. :/

Zinger314
Even if it were similar, that isn't a "pop culture reference." That's copyright infringement.
Operative 14
There's a little bit of resemblance if you don't look to closely (like if your squinting from 30 feet away), but I don't really see any similarity other than that the helmets are sort of in the shape of an animal head.

Yeah, armor doesn't look much like the pic...
freaky naughty
The only resemblance I can see is the texture of the helm, and other than that they're completely different

i see no resemblance at all, besides maybe that they're gray and they are both armor. thats about it though.
romeus petrus
I fail to see how they look similar.
lyra_song
nupe i dont see it
Stolen Souls
lol, yeah....er....*copy/paste what everyone else said here*
Sleeper Service
Not once did i say that they were the same. =/
I implied that they are similar, and that there is clear inspiration and resemblance.
Now you can "see" it or not, thats your decision, however i will point out that most people state that the Silver eagle armour is inspired from Aztec warriors but...
http://www.lowriderarte.com/featured...era/index.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_warrior
they are not the same are they.
And yes Zinger is totally correct, if it was a direct port it WOULD be copyright infringement.

yay for another retarded "i is makinz dis thred soz i can gits sum mor +1s" OP.
Zahr Dalsk
Doesn't look the same.
Either way, I despise pop culture references in fantasy RPGs.

Get your eyes checked. Or find something better to do than stretch to make connections between GW and the rest of the world. Or both.
No connection whatsoever
No connection whatsoever
NoXiFy
am i blazed... or do they have almost no similarities at all. at least none that i can see. -_-
Jumping Is Uselss
What similarities was the op talking about?
I MP I
The similarities are minuscule at best. Some people just look into things far too much in order to bridge a connection.
StormDragonZ
I see a possible 10% relation... but no, I don't see it... perhaps an idea used and totally changed a lot... that's the case that I see.
Age
The devs were probably in school (college) when Xena and Hercules was on.
Sujoy
hey hey, go easy on the guy, he might just have a uber imagination and we don't
no need to be rude
no need to be rude
ShadowsRequiem
they look nothing alike sorry.
Vilaptca
Even if they did look similar (which I don't believe they do), it wouldn't be considered a pop culture reference.
That armor isn't really something special from Xena. It looks like a generic guard to me. Nothing that anyone would care about or recognize. And while there happens to be a guard wearing it in that show, I'm sure you could find at least three other shows with very similar armor designs, and all four of them probably found something similar in some history book.

lyra_song
Mesmer chakrams are closer to a Xena pop-culture reference.
Skyy High
Failure of a thread...
They're no where remotely close to each other. They may have well been inspired by any other suit of armor ever made.

I think you're really grasping at straws here.
FXCW
Only similarity I see is that they are both sets of armour, apart from that they look totally different.
jrk247
They both look like they're made of metal that's the only similar feature I can really see and even then one is made up of pixels and one is made of fake metal so the people acting (do they act in that show?) can actually move.
