Chat Filter Improvments

I have gotten banned mulitple times for using racial slurs "niga" "niger" ect . I think this is very stupid, i think chat filter should ban these words. Same as swearing. Have a checkbox to check on- ban racial slurs.

Nothing wrong with swearing! This is a 12+ game. I'm certain that those little kids should of learned the 'f' word by now.

If you think they should be filtered, then don't use them.

Along with you using racial racial slurs, you can't spell them either. That's like a double-ignorant. Anyways, there is no way in hell anet would filter the misspelled swear words.

While i believe being banned for cursing is absolutely RIDICULOUS, i believe being banned for cursing while somehow bypassing the word filter is reasonable, which in a sense, you actually did.

America's freedom of speech only applies as against the government. The government cannot, absent a few exceptional circumstances, prohibit you from speaking your mind or punish you for it. Your relationship with a private corporation is an entirely different matter.

What has the American government got to do with Guild Wars? And what if you live in Scotland or Canida or something? America's rules don't apply to us/them.

even so, imo, you shouldn't be using those words to begin with. "nigga" and "nigg er" or anything in the sense is highly disrespectful no matter how you look at it.

cursing/swearing shouldn't be a suspendable/bannable offense, but the use of racism on GW SHOULD be.

The obvious way to avoid being banned is simply to respect your fellow players by not swearing or making racial slurs.

Just because the filter doesn't stop it doesn't mean you should be saying it.

The change we need for them is to detect languages.

It's a bit annoying when the filter detects English words while your are typing in Spanish.

And a good solution to this problem: DON'T USE RACIAL SLURS IN THE FIRST PLACE! Swearing I can sort of understand because swearing is an emotional release for some people. But when is it even remotely ok to use a racial slur?

This is a great suggestion. Filter all words and possible mispellings thereof, intentional or not (there are only a few hundred for each word, tops), so that you can use racial slurs for no reason?

I wish I lived in a me-centric world as well...

I would only agree to blocked out words if it only applied to, chat filter being on.
