Recruit-channel
Chilos
Good, we have taken care of trade offers (If you see trader offering in local, please report for chocolate cookie ) but I'm fed up with posts like: Join Holy Eternal Dragonlord Vegeta Hero Knights! We have GH, 1k Kurz faction etc. It always breaks a good chat in social places like Shing Jea (American is REALLY social), Temple of Balthazar (Obi Noob Kenobi ^^) and many, many other lovely places. But to the point:
I want Recruit channel for Guild Recruitments. We all hate Guild Recruitment spamming in local, don't we?

Turn off local channel.
Anyways.../signed. Is a good idea. But it would be better if people get banned if post recruiting messages in the Local Channel. Only in Guild Recruitment.

Recruit channel is a good idea, but i doubt people will take note if we ever get one and still spam in local chat.

They've needed this for ages. I'm sick of trying to help someone in Ascalon and having my speech replaced by 'We have 3 billion Luxon/Kurxick faction, join us!' spam.

I keep All chat off by default, but signed.

It is annoying. And for those seriously looking for a guild would have to cut through all the crap that is said in local-this would streamline it I think.

Yep. Local off 99%. It wasn't so bad in the early year of the game...but it has gotten out of hand. Most people just want to play and already have a guild. Those that don't would benefit from a channel more than they would from spam.

While I have no real argument against this, what happens when we request enough channels that local chat should just be deleted? The next one I expect to see a request for is a runner channel, farming channel, and questing channel. Hmm isn't that essentially what they did in the party search window (without the runner portion) that no one does. The guild recruiting piece is even in that already.

I hate it when alot of the good conversations get interrupted by a 3+ line message about some stupid guild. Thing is, you do need multiple channels, since it would make stuff easier. Farming channel, running channel, and help for quests, etc. And local is just for talking, with more channels, it's easier to be organized and find what you're looking for faster and easier.

The Channels fail to work and probably always will fail because of the uncertainty principal.
ie you become convinced you are not reaching people because they don't have that channel enabled.
I am selling in the trade chat and no one is buying so then you start thinking maybe your missing customers so you spam general chat.
Ok to be clear I don't do it but many do and its the same with all the channels you convince yourself that general is the place to be to reach everyone.
It's not right and it's certainly not polite but it will probably always happen, unless someone has a brilliant plan that accounts for idiots.
Making trading and recruiting happen in a form other than chat might be a way forward, but how to implement it ?
Some kind of notice board perhaps that keeps your commercial allive as long as you remain in that town.
People have to click on the board to read what's there.

The other way to combat this would make it harder to create guilds. I think people find it hard to get/keep members as any tom, dick or harry can start a guild.

Join my guild! We have a cape so THAT MEANS WE PRO!

Even if this was added it's not like they'd use it, and they'd find ways around the filters.

Better yet, just ban recruitment announcements in game.
Good guilds rarely recruit ingame btw. They have a site and an application form and an interview...etc.

Yes, I have thought about this idea for almost 2 years now. Seriously, WoW has it, and it seems to be working fine. GW2 is looking a lot like a WoW-clone, so I don't see why not.

IDK, I got a feeling that all we'd get is more chat drama: Guy tries to recruit in local and a half dozen folks start wigging out because the guy used using the wrong channel. Happens now with people selling stuff or LFG without the tool.
Randvek
/notsigned. Everyone, and I mean everyone, would keep the recruitment channel off anyway, so everyone who wants to recruit would find a way around it, and local channel would be filled with 10x the number of recruiters of people saying "use the recruit channel, noob!"
That's an improvement? No thanks.
