Geomancer - Sylvari class
agriasreinas
I thought it'd be cool to have new classes based on the new races. Based on the info. from GW1 and the upcoming GW2 i created 2 classes for the Sylvari and Norn races.
The classes would be open to any race but the specific race would start out with bonus att's(i.e. Att quest pts)
Geomancer - Sylvari
The geomancer uses the forces of nature to damage enemies while wielding a whip for linear aoe. The sylvari uses seeds to grow plants that are offensive and defensive.
Seed magic info: These will work like the Vine Seed on Druids Isle where when you use the skill you hold the item. You can plant that seed anywhere but the seed has to grow and mature. While the seed is growing enemies can attack the vine etc.
* Role-Damage
* Weapon - Whip
* Armor - Light armor
* Energy - Medium
* Range - Mid Range - Whip has AoE which is a straight line i.e. anything between You and your target will be hit.
Attributes:
*Whip Mastery - damage with whips.
*Force of Nature - primary attribute, affects growth rate of seeds/plants.
*Growth Magic - Seed magic that support allies.
*Wither Magic - seed magic that damages foes.
Skills: (elites)
Whip Mastery
*Whiplash - Target foe takes +x..x damage and is dazed for x..x seconds.
*Viper's Strike - +damage and applies poison and deep wound.
*Flashing Vine - +damage and applies blind for x seconds.
Wither Magic
*Seed of Chaos - When fully grown, damages surrounding enemies while also causing a random condition(daze/deep wound has lowest chance).
*Seed of Thorns - +damage and cripples targets. Any foe already crippled is rooted to the ground for x seconds.
*Seed of Venus - +damage and gains that amount. If attacks are blocked, the tree loses x..x amount of health.
Growth Magic
*Seed of Melandru - Any allies that touch the tree is cured of any conditions. The plant loses x..x amount of health for each condition removed.
*Seed of Balthazar - Any allies that touch this plant gains x..x speed boost and x..x armor for x..x seconds. Plant loses health each time used.
*Seed of Restoration - same as above but you gain amount of health when touched.
Force of Nature
*Druids Seed(Vine Seed) - surrounding enemies are KD'ed. Plant lasts 5 seconds.
Norn class coming soon.

Avoid the Race-Specific Classes.
Theres no need for one, All races should have same Classes no Diff.
We wouldn't want Asuras to be a Mage Class only, nor keep the Norn Fighters only.

Bible is as reaslistic as Lord of the Ring.
Btw I don't want to hear any more classes involoving the 'whip'! And race specific classes are a 'no'.
I don't realy want to ask this but...is this 'Geomancer' class a bit like the 'Shaman' class out of World of Warcraft with the totems?

OOOO yeah Geomancers. I just played FF3 for the DS a bit again, and I recently fell in love with their geomancer. It should defenatly be a class ^_^. I think it should be on all classes as well. cept I don't like the way you portray them to be honest. I mean the plantting part sounds exactly like WoW or a ritualist. Just have earth like based attacks, and while in certain areas, some skills are more usefull. I know It's sounding a lot like an elementalist in my way but, like something like an ice attack would be more powerfull in the shiverpeaks, while magma/fire is more powerfull in RoF.

Geomancers are a specialization of the Elementalists >.>
/notsigned for race specific professions
/signed for maybe race specific special profession skills, which get handled like Elite Skills
@ bohya: what do you have against whips ? Its a really cool Weapon Type and its missing in Guild Wars...so simple. People which make CC's and want to make them look unique have to search for weapons, fighting styles and gameplay styles ect. which are missing in GW yet so that the CC's will have a good reason for implemention, so it is naturally, that lots of CC ideas will come with professions, which wield weapons like:
Whips/Chain Sickles, 2H Swords/Axes, Lances/Halberds/Battle Spears (2h), Battle Staffs, Nunchucks, Claws/Gauntlets, Boomerangs, Maces/1H Hammers, Musical Instruments like Harps,Flutes or Guitars which can be abused as Weapons and handled like Bows,Hammers or Rods, Katars, Dual Swords/Axes, and other exotic fantasy stuff people can think of... all stuff GW is missing.
aloen this load of missing Weapons would enable Anet to implement easily another 10 professions+ to give us some unique professions which use those weapons, others again could be put theoreticaly as improvements in GW2 to the existing ones, like Katars, Shurikens and Kunais could be put to the Assassin, while the Warrior receives 2H Swords,Axes,Lances ect. and gets able to fight also in Dual Weapon Style with Swords and Axes.
When the paragon would get reconcepted to a real Minstrel Class, then would this profession fight with Music instruments and not with spears and then would this lass not be anymore such a freaking Wannabe-Warrior/Angel/Bard, but then finalyl something unique own thing that is not a clone profession...
You see, about Weapons and Fight Styles has Anet many thigns to do, theres a hell lot stuff to improve and most of it can just be done by improvign the existign professions

Ya it's a card game, the pic is from an artist called wen M on devianart I've been collecting his work for some time, you should really check him out, almost all his pics deserve inventing a class for.

P.S: He also does commissions, but he doesn't come cheap :-)

I am thinking that this class is much better called "The Gardener" they make use of vegetation and seeds as their weapons
Vines is where the whip comes in. in area where there have very limited vegetation/plants seeds come into play.

Some combination of armors I couldn't recognise, all dyed white.
Now imagine this is a plant based class, so the chick would instead be wearing a plant crafted armor, like a coconut bra and a small leaf skirt.
Hmmm... Something tells me I shouldn't be encouraging PT when he informs us about being horny on (this side of) the forums...
================================================== ==
I wonder about the range of the vines, whether they are spirit like or not.
Also the primary attribute only supports the seeds, making it like spawning power, useful only for a particular type of build.
You should try and get something that is good for both whiplashers and gardeners.
Like making conditions last longer on foes, or gaining health/energy when inflicting conditions.
Lastly, whips are soft weapons, how could they have an AoE, you need to flick them to deal damage so they would never strike in a straight line.
Flailing with whips would be more logical, hitting multiple foes but only those closest you in each direction if they are in the whips range.
But even then soft weapons are a 1000 times harder to control compared to solid weapons, if you flailed whips you would certainly hit yourself at some point.
Bohya
You do more damage with higher ranks in whip mastery blablabla. For each rank in whip mastery you have a 2% chance NOT to damage yourself.
This is what whip mastery does!
Btw, at the guy asking the clothing question. 'The Sylvari are plants. They don't have breasts, they don't have a snatch, they don't have a dong! They have no reason to cover up their bodies!'
Fire is their weakest enemy! MWHAHAHAHA!

! Not being stuck with Anet's default body models.
@ Al rating
# Sexually insecure teenagers would suffer trauma from playing a char that lacked parts, so they would need clothing to cover up the lack of something to cover up.
PS
Those same teenagers are keeping me from playing reptilian or bird races as those unlike mammals have a cloaca.
It's silly and stupid, but its sadly true.
Bohya
I'm getting confused with what Sylvari are. Are they actualy plants or are they just spirits. Guild Wiki says they are spirits, but they are born from a plant.
Anyway to the clothing question. It looks like they have skin or something so maybay they do have something to cover up under their 'clothes'.
I hope they are just spirits.
This one looks kinda cute.

Never heard of dyrads bohya? Cause it seems pretty obvious that sylvari are the GW version of them.
Standard characteristics
-spirit
-can materialize
-preferred activities: laughing, dancing, teasing travellers
-always appear as very young girls
-is the incarnated spirit of a tree(s) or a familiar
- known to transform into vegetation, can also pass through vegetation as if it where air
I'm not saying Anet is going to copy/paste that, but it'll give you a good idea about what to expect.

While a wood nymph is a lot like a dryad, however a dryad is a fey creature of the forest(literally).
Their bodies are made of plants and/or animals(belonging together in a natural fashion, not a Frankensteine stitched up fashion)
Most Dryads command nature to some extent and are quite ill pleased with the way humans treat it, most are quite short tempered and fused, unlike friendly and playful nymphs(that refuse to understand travelers may need sleep)
Driads aren't spirits, although their not entirely worldly creatures either if I recall correctly. They usually do look like women(at least in upper body) because of a stereotype mother nature reference I think.
Albeit having a skin of bark and hair of leaves/tails.

Nymphs are nothing else, then Spirits of Nature and for them gives it different forms of Nymphs..
Land Nymphs, Wood Nymphs, Water Nymphs and Wind Nymphs *others talk also about other Nymphs, which fit to none of those Nymph kinds ...*
Each type of them have own Names, they are mostly known for:
Land Nymphs > Alseids
Wood Nymphs > Dryads
Water Nymphs > Nereids
Air Nymphs > Sylphids /also known under the Name as Sylphs
but they have also many other names, which specialize more into the Elements and Regions ect., but these 4 are the 4 most known names for Nymphs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nymphs
Look under Wood Nymphs, you will see there Dryads at the TOP
*myself a bit dissappointed, that the article has nothing about Air nymphs , but regardless*
PS: I don#t think so, that the Sylvari will be a Female-only Race, I'm relatively sure, that once GW2 is released, we will see sooner or later also male ones, otherwise how should this Race populate then ??? XD
I don't believe in Flowers % Bees Sex rofl ^^

Though I too doubt Anet will make a race without a sausage option.
