Consumables
TPike
I some questions on consumables.
I've played some EotN so I have 2 Armour of Salvation and one Powerstone I got as rewards.
My char is approaching the end of Nightfall (I'm in the realm of Torment).
Should I keep these items in my inventory so I can have them available or just keep them in storage "saving" them in case I "need" them.
I'm not sure if I'm going to HH or PUG the final mission but I'm thinking that's when I'll use them.
Did you use consumables before completing a campaign?
Do people usually just use consumables when playing HM?
One other question.
I have about 85 skill points on a lvl 20 char.
Would I be able to make a profit by converting my points and assets into Powerstones or another consumable and selling them?

If 85 skill point is your total earn up to now, I would advise on keeping your skill points to cap elite skills for yourself and your heroes. The consummable you can always buy from friend from your guild or alliance. As for selling them i have no idea if you can make good money out of them. I usually only sell them to allies and guildies for the same price as the npc + the materials.
The final mission in NF and most of the area you'll be vanquishing in HM dont require the use of consummable at all if you have the right build for that specific area, but they do help.
I would save those for some area that will give real trouble. I only use them when all else fail or for place that even with really good build i run the risk of party wipe.

Only use consummables for things like Vanquishing, Guardian (HM missions), or HM dungeons. Normal Mode will never have a need for them. If you need them in Normal Mode, you really just need a new team/build. Even using Hero/Hench, you can Vanquish about 90% of the game without consummables.
I say it would be a waste to use them on Normal Mode of any kind, and a decent amount of Hard Mode.

Thanks
Right now I have Searing Flames & Ether Prism as my Elites & Contagion.
I bought the Core & Nightfall skill packs so my Heros have all the skills & Elites already.
You're probably right though, I have all the fire skills but not all the earth & water skills.
I've still got to figure out a way to pay for those skills, lulz.
I tried to PUG the mission to get to where I am now Twice.
Both times one player tried to lead but 2 wouldn't follow his suggestions.
I tried to HH it and made it on first try (read wiki ofc).
Who do I see when I spawn? The guy who tried to lead before.
We hooked up and did another mission.
Those other two guys are probably still in the Boneyard or wherever.

For consumables, I only use Powerstones. I gave all the other ones I collected to guildies who can use them. I find powerstones to be very useful in dungeons and vanquishing. I usually vanquish with h/h so the powerstone is the best way to remove DP from your heroes. Too bad you can't force feed them candy canes.

last i checked (havent been on in a few days) a full set of consumables (meaning armor, grail, essence) goes for 8k in doa. thats really the only place people use them consistently (although not necessary)
powerstones arent bad at all... they just happen to be the most expensive to craft if i remember correctly.
Some people seem to get very defensive about using consumables... I see a lot of people on the forums who like to say "i Never use them" because they are too moral, too poor, or like to sound leet.
They are a tool to be used if you feel like it. They can make rep farming runs go much faster. They also give a slight RL morale boost if used in a human party if you catch my meaning. People have been legendary vanquishers and protectors before consumables.
Basically just remember that you are playing the game to have fun... so if you feel like it: pop some consume. If not, then dont. Or just sell them. Its really that easy
PS some of the norn-territory creatures use Frigid Armor. I dont play ele... but I agree earth ele owns all the rest in most situations... not just GwEn but all chapters.

Thanks for all the great replies.
I'm struggling a little, I might pack a little "snack food" before I start playing in the morning.
Horseman, I never thought about a "RL" benefit but I see what you mean, makes sense!
I'm not rich gold wise, but I can afford to use one because I want to. Lol, what a concept.
As far as farming those wurms outside of Boreal station - Is that on HM you mean?
I've run a couple level 10 chars to the frost wurms for farming experience points but the drops are nothing in regular mode.
My own experience so far is that me fire ele does OK in EotN. stuff must melt up there

Yes, Tpike - in general, fire wrks well against most things. The problem in EotN is that Destroyers don't burn - you can damage them normally with fire spells, but you can't set 'em on fire. That makes Searing Flames pointless against them.
The only place I've needed to use consumables (so far) was in the toughest vanquishing areas, for me that was Joko's Domain and Hidden City of Adashim in Nightfall. Oh, and I might have popped a few in Slavers. Got 700 points left on my main, the only problem is the high-ish price of feathers, dust and granite recently.
If you ever need xp in a hurry, a few HM runs of Kilroy's Punchout thingy will sort you out

I advise you to keep at least a Powerstone in your inventory. You don't want to fail a mission/vanquish/dungeon when you very nearly completed it because you got too much DP stacked up.
As soon as you finished NM, and enter HM, you will get skill points aplenty. Or try doing some UW/FoW/DoA runs, each quest nets you 10.000+ exp in NM already. Might get some good drops on the way too.

Personally I carry one Powerstone of Courage on most of my characters. I pretty much only use them if I am in a bad way at the end of a long mission/dungeon and don't want to repeat. With some professions I find I hate certain missions and would spend any amount of consumables to get past it once and move on.
When doing EotN dungeons I usually also carry a Grail of Might and an Essence of Celerity. Again for the same reason - I don't want to spend 45-60 minutes and find I need one only to have them in storage and not one on my character. My general cheapness means I almost never use them, but I have and I do not regret doing so at all nor do I feel any sense of superiority for not using them (any more than the above poster should make fun of people who do not use them - it is your personal choice). If asked I would generally say I am only a mediocre player. In fact I would assume a better player, while not needing them, would find them to have a lower opportunity cost and regularly purchase them. As is I would rather spend the plat on something that will go into my HoM (say, an elite armor set or some more sweet tooth points).

Only against Destroyers. Fire still owns everything else. |
anywho thats a debate for another time
The problem with saving up consumables is like saving up the "good stuff" in any game...Im gunna refence FF here as its the easiest example
ever completed the game to find that you have 70 Elixirs left?
yeah exactly, always saving them for a "rainy day" and being so scared you might need them later you didnt use them when you needed to....

That's EXACTLY where I'm stuck HH in Nightfall. Going to try it now with a Grail of Might HH.
I've been playing less than 2 months, haven't finished a campaign. Hence no Hard Mode for me.

Ah, yes. I forgot. Sent you a PM

I always keep consumables in my inventory, even though i don't use them often. Always be prepared for the worst.
