Shouldn't the trade automatically cancel if you have money on the char?
I had trades like that too where i forgot to put all my money into the storage, but the trade was always canceled....
Sounds quite strange... do you happen to have a screenshot of the trade message?
Maybe the buyer edited the trade window and removed the 100k.... I can't really imagine that a bug like that happens....
EDIT: I'd sent a report to ANET if it all really happend like that. Write down your location, the time, the district etc....
That's what I'm trying to say. My guess would be that the buyer edited the trade and removed the 100k.
@Shooshu:
1) Did the buyer edit the trade?
2) Are you still in the game ... and can you take a screenshot of the trade message?
3) I'm really sorry for you losing 100k

Congratulations, you just lost 100k to poor user interface design.
Always triple-check everything you're doing with trades in this game, both with players and with merchants, and never hurry yourself.
It's not a bug, the trade interfaces just aren't very well designed. It won't warn you when it's about to do something entirely non-obvious, it just does it. It's not as bad as it used to be, but it's still pretty tricky.
In his case, the limit is 100k on the character, so logic would dictate that the trade would result in 99k 872g, but apparently (and, if true, unsurprisingly), that's not how the system works.

doesn't the trade cancel if you have a full inventory or no gold space?
MagmaRed
If the trade can't happen, it cancels. The cancel has no message with it, it just closes the trade window down. If you are trying to trade 100k with someone who has money on their character, it will cancel the trade, as the trade is not possible. Either you didn't watch closely what was in the trade window, or the 100k got placed in your storage and you forgot.
I don't see how 128g would allow a trade to complete, yet not transfer the 100k. If that DID happen, it is definitely a bug, and you would need to send a ticket to support. I doubt you'll see your money though, as I think you got scammed by the buyer, not the game.

It probably said 100g and 15 ecto and you probably had 28 gold in your inventory cause u merched that fodder...
HawkofStorms
Agreed with Dallcingi. You didn't read. There was nothing wrong with the interface. No bug. Etc.

If 100k was offered and he didn't have an empty invintory, the trade would have been cancelled.
Shakti
I have to agree wit Hawk. Trades cancel when you don't have room. Some thing's off here.
gw_poster
yep, i had that happen where the trade cancels..i couldnt' figure out why i couldn't accept a trade once, but realized it was cuz i had 100k in my account...since i'm not used to having cash on hand like that the person i was trading with asked me if i had 100k in my inventory..then i realized why the trade kept auto-cancelling...so, long story short - u got scammed...but curious why someone running around with a torment weapon would only have 28gp in their inventory unless you were clearing (cash) inventory space in preparation for the large sale...but anyway - sorry to read of your loss
caveat emptor...

The most common mistake/scam in all of trading. He was offered 100g instead of 100k for an item, didn't read it carefully, and hit accpt. Not a game bug, just a mistake on the sellers part.

And as far as I know, the trade should cancel. I think it's a matter to take up with Arenanet and have them look deeper into it to get the story.
