how many posts do you need for each title under your name on guru and is there somewhere this is displayed? i looked around on FAQ and other places but couldnt find anything

no, guru titles mean you have done something, gw titles dont mean much at all anymore.

and most people who have gotten up to the last tier now have custom titles like quickmonty said...

Custom titles? The mods have to know you well to grant you a custom title, and the mods themselves have custom titles. The "Core Guru" and "Elite Guru" titles are for paid subscribers.
