I thought loot scaling had to do with who gets what drops, people tell me all the time that they drop more often in hm. Just wanted to check, thanks.

It's a horse apiece, i did a forge run today in NM,5 or 6 shards dropped by the time we where done with the forge run, and i have been in HM and have it where that many don't drop. And as for uw some times more drop in HM, and sometimes more drop in uw. For the most part there is no guaranty, i know when hm came out they did some loot scale, i just don't remember if materials were included.

i think you guys are confusing drop rate and loot scaling. loot scaling affects who gets what and your party size compared to that of a full party. he's asking about drop rate of normal mode compared to hard mode. i don't know the answer for ectos and obsidian but i know that more valuable items drop more often in hard mode, i.e. rare items, unique items.

No.
They have the same drop rate, but it is generally easier to kill more quickly in NM, so you are more likely to get more ecto and shards in normal mode.

Thus, with today's build, all of the following types of items will now be exempt from loot scaling:

* Skill Tomes
* Scrolls
* Dye
* Rare materials
* All rare (gold colored) items
* All unique (green) items
* Special event items

What exactly is left after that? lol

You're wrong, most gold came from white/blue/purple items when farming.

To answer the OP only purple/gold items have an increased droprate in HM
