I skipped buying Factions because of those closed gates. But now I have all other chapters and since the price was so low... I could not resist buying. Yet I still hate to keep trying team missions, and protection missions. And unfortunately this is exactly what I have to do to get out of that huge city.
So... Are their alternatives? Like using a teleport spell, a taxi, runners, whatever?
Any way to get past the closed gates without doing the missions?

nope. Factions as well as Nightfall requires you to go in order with missions and quests. In Nightfall, you can run to further places, but it won't allow you to do the missions.

umm... why would you pay for a game and not even at least want to learn what the story is and see some of the new types of enemies you have to kill and such first hand?

Because some people see the story as an inconvenience towards making their way to ULTIMATE POWER. :P

lol... or this as a possible answer (j/k) xD

For Viznuah Square, goto International District or attempt it during some god-forsaken hour, and it'll be essentially a single team mission. The henchmen team is not great but is enough to get masters with. For Unwaking Water, I think I've only got a human on the other end once in all the 4-5 times I've done it. Almost always get masters as well.
There's not a lot you can complain about. Do the missions and get your caps. The 10k faction can be gotten by doing quests. If you are not interested in playing the game, get some Balthazar faction and some tomes. You're getting no sympathy, but maybe will get some offers to run missions for you, at a price.

For my Tyria is a huge roleplaying gaming world. At the start with Prophecies I found a lot of things, especially the storyline, too linear. For that reason I skipped Factions. Nightfall brought more freedom and with EotN and its PvE only skills and items the roleplaying setting evaluated to a higher level. With so many places to go to, so many quests and gear it became fun to create a hero/hench party that could quest everywhere. On some kind of mercenary base
I added Cantha because of some skills I wanted and to have more places to explore. Since my party had beated all endlevel missions in Prophecies, Nightfall and EotN I did not expect much problems in Cantha. Exept... Its a typical hack & slash the endlevelboss party lol! I'm not the patience type of player. Protecting NPC's, waiting for other teams, time based stuff, its not for me. Doing over a mission 1 or 2 times is about the limit otherwise it feels like a wasted afternoon or evening.
No, I don't care about the story. like I said, I completed Prophecies, Nightfall and EotN, and in all these cases I found the end of the story an anticlimax.
I like to do quests. I don't like to do missions. Anyway, I got my skills, had some fun exploring the Cantha city, and it would be great to get out of it. But not at the cost of a weekend trying and re-trying protection missions.

So... Are their alternatives? Like using a teleport spell, a taxi, runners, whatever? Just hit me up ig and I will organize a good team for you. We will help you get masters on whatever.

I'm going to try Vizanuh square with my hench/merc team. Hope those Npc's dont run into the enemies knife this time. I'll follow Arsies suggestion. Lets see how this works out.
Edit: Ok, that one is done! The other team was a human team which ran ahead most of the time while I was protecting the 2 NPC's. No problems at all.
I guess I just take my time to do a mission when I'm in for it. No need to hurry. Thanks for the suggestions.

No reason to not be able to do it later, just do the easy missions.
