Obsidian Armour

Hey all

I'm considering getting myself some obsidian armour on my Dervish. I'm just wondering how much it is all together, i've worked it out as 1000k+ roughly, but I want to know how much it cost other people and how you went about getting all the money.

Lets see when I got it (after about 13 months of farming and some really bad timing) it was worth

105* 9K for ectos 945K
105*2.7K for shards 283K
60K
+ other materials

~ 1.2 million.
Now I had about 60 ecto at the time but prices were starting to shoot up so i paniced dropped all my funds and got it. A week later ectos were like 5K :/ could have got 2 sets if i had waited a week lol

uhhh johny i dont no the last time u got on GW but shards are 2k each and ectos 4.5k each.....

ya i just got armor (no helm or gloves) so 90 ectos and shards spent like 500k

At (roughly) todays prices: 742.5k - 847.5K Plus Materials

Ecto 4.5k - 5k * 105 = 472.5k - 525k
Shards: 2k - 2.5k * 105 = 210k - 262.5k
base cost: 60K

Lets see...I think I spent around 80k on ectos (I farmed the rest), and about 200 something on shards. The deldrimor I made myself, and the iron I got just by salvaging stuff from farming UW.

Things to keep in mind:

If you don't like the hood, you can save 15 ectos/shards and still be able to display it in your hall (that's a little over 100k right there).

It'll take longer to farm the ectos yourself, but it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper (and I believe there is a Dervish UW farm on pvxwiki).

Yah if I were you i'd consider deciding on how many pieces you want. On my monk I just bought the chest+pants because the gloves and boots werent worth it really.

Same thing with my Sin I bought the chest+pants and am thinking of getting the gloves. :P

Its much cheaper now then it was before so if you want to get fow armor now is a good time.

How long did it take you to farm the ectos?

Ectos is really based on luck. I've gone 3 runs with 2 ectos each run and 3 runs with no ectos at all. This is just soloing the smites. The most i've gotten is 3 ectos+1 ruby in one run.

The D/mes build is in the farming forums I think. Though I didnt like it that much :P Maybe you'll have better luck.

I got my first fow armour after 5 months of playing.
Back then I did alot of 55 in Uw with my monk, Notice this was nearly two years.
My first fow armor to complete was ofcourse male mesmer, then monk and war.
I dont play as much no more, but when i farm now - It's fow/uw clearances, and slavers exile, Doa fullrun is also great.
I remember that I didnt spend much money on other stuff, so save as much as u can always.

I've done UW farming before - I was very unsuccesful though, im really poor at the /me builds, I can never remember to keep up the visages. I think the D/mo builds on PvX look ok

Ah okay I only gave the d/mes a few trys and loathed it I normally just do the w/rt because its easy and you can not pay much attention and still do the farm XD
The thing I hated about the D/mes was that a few times Balth would cancel itself while casting it again and then you would die pretty fast. If you have a warrior i'd consider using that build. It's pretty mindless but its so much safer then the dervish build.

I recently made one, so that may be what she will be used for then Vwk is imba lol

i 600/smite for all my ecto, cos i have 2 accounts and 2 pcs, 1 goes 600 1 goes smite, so i get all the ecto ^^

On average, I get 1-2 ecto per run.

However, I've had runs where I've gotten nothing, other runs I've gotten 4.

However, even if you don't get any ectos, if you do the full run you usually get about 1.5-3k per run, so it will pay for itself (my ave. is around 1.5k though).

Ok thanks for the info - Looks like I will be leveling up my Warrior to use as a farmer.
