Team Love [kiSu] was started in December 2007 as part of the Big Brother program proposed by Axiom over at the Team Quitter forums. The primary purpose of Team Love is to help build the Guild Wars PvP community through mentoring of players at all different levels of play. In the 3 months since we started, our guilds have done some 500 GvGs and mentored dozens of players. Our program includes 3 guilds for PvP players of different levels:
Team Love [kiSu] is our high level mentoring guild located in a top PvP alliance with dR, HGH, NRF, ZFQ, and other highly active GvG guilds. Mentors from top guilds help run matches and show Team Love players the ropes of high level PvP. Team Love matches usually will include mentee players, mentor players from top guilds, and experiened "anchor" players. Players in Team Love are expected to help lead and teach in Casual Love.
Casual Love [kiSu] is our practice guild located in the Rebel Rising [rawr] PvP alliance. Players applying for a position in Team Love often will start in Casual Love as they await an opening. Players in Casual Love are expected to be very active and experienced in GvG play, but perhaps need to knock off some rust after returning to the game or require a little more experience to be very proficient at certain roles. Players in Casual Love are also expected to help lead and teach in Virtual Love.
Virtual Love [kiSu] is our entry level PvP guild. Players in this guild engage in high end PvE and AB, and are given the opportunity to learn the basics of GvG in a relatively low stress environment. Virtual Love requires only a good attitude, high level of activity, and willingness to work to learn and improve.
We routinely guest top players to help mentor in Team Love, and as Casual Love has become more established we are starting to do the same there. The current list of mentors includes but is not limited to:
Axiom
Chop Chop The Panda
Chiizu
Daemon
David
Danimoth
Divine Ambassador
Doji
Farin
Kestrel
Less
Squidget
Three Pounds
Tommy
Rino
Yue
We are always on the look out for more top players to act as mentors. Mentors need not member with kiSu, though they are welcome to add second accounts if available.
Anchor Members
Anchor players form the core of the guild and fill in most of the spots in any given match. For anchors we look for players who have prior top 50-100 GvG experience and have an attitude of wanting to improve as well as helping others to do so. Although GvG matches can get to be stressful, we expect anchors to temper their critiques when dealing with mentees.
Mentees
Mentees are experienced GvG players who have toiled away in obscurity. kiSu is designed to give them experience playing with better players, at a higher level, than they have been able to in the past. The goal is for mentees to improve to the point where they can act as anchors and/or move on to other good PvP guilds.
How It Works
kiSu currently has 8 mentee players. In any given GvG match, no more than two mentees will play, in a role that they are experienced and practiced with. All mentees have considerable experience play at the top 200-300 level, and our goal is to get them to play at even higher levels through interaction with mentors and anchors. GvG matches also include 1-2 mentors, often calling strategy for the match. By participating with kiSu, both anchors and mentees learn from some of the top players in the world, in addition to getting a chance to make themselves known in the PvP community.
Applying for kiSu
If you are interested in becoming a mentor for kiSu, just let me know on our forums and I'll add you to our list for guesting as well as give you access to our private forums. If you want to join as an anchor or mentee, please post an application over at www.teamlove.us. We are always looking for new mentors and anchors, and are currently looking for monk mentors and anchors in particular to help out with Team Love, as well as a good strat caller to help mentor folks in Casual Love. We'll be looking to add a couple new mentees to Team Love soon, though folks in Casual Love will get first consideration for these spots.
Also, we are currently trying to build up a core of players in Virtual Love who play during Euro times, with an eventual goal to move the core to Casual Love as well as recruit Euro Mentors in addition to our current North American ones.
If you want to apply or have a question about the program, please post on our forums at www.teamlove.us - Do not PM me questions on forums or in game please, but rather post them on our forums so others can see the answers as well and we all save ourselves some time for GvGing instead.
