[HoM Tweak] Armor Display - Allow any 4 pieces for complete set.
arcanemacabre
As the Hall of Monuments' elite armor display is set up right now, you can display any full elite set without the headpiece/helmet. So you only need 4 pieces of the whole set, which is fine since some sets don't even have a headpiece, such as the Necro Scar Pattern. This also means that if you don't like the headpiece, such as elite Gladiator, or if the headpiece won't even be visible, such as many of the Monk head tattoos on a character with hair, you don't have to buy it and still display it. Great. Awesome.
My idea is to allow a little more leeway to this monument by allowing any 4 pieces of a set to count as a full set. This is because other classes have pieces that are fairly non-descript, and have little reason to be purchased other than to 'complete the set.' Two of the biggest examples I can think of are Mesmer gloves and Dervish boots. Both of those classes have headpieces that are quite visible and unique, and often matching the set well, while those other armor pieces just seem like add-ons.

all one would have to do then is get three pieces (Chest, legs, arms) and then buy 5 different pieces (feet) to complete your HoM.

hmm, not a bad idea. it also allows some people who are a bit short on cash, to buy the 4 least expensive, and skip on the chest.

You don't need the headpiece to display a set in HoM, so you only need 4 pieces as it is now.

If you can't afford the chest piece, too bad. It doesn't take that long to scrape up the extra gold.
It is a SET .... not a mix and match.

This idea would make it "any" 4 pieces : for example, headpiece, chest, arms, legs.
/signed, it's nice for people who have combinations

make dwarven armor displayable.

The HoM armors are what is known as "progressive gold sinks". That means that they're wholly optional, and designed to drain excess gold from the game.
It is therefore in ANets (and the games) interest that people waste as much money and resources as possible on these armors. Hence, allowing non-complete or mixed sets work against the intended purpose of the armors.
I wont either sign or unsign - this is simply not something ANet is ever likely to change.

You would be able to skip the chest... that part obviously costs the most.

My suggestion on this would to let the HoM take any currently viable (and also including non-set pieces) chest, glove, legging, and boot piece, one of each, and call that a set. Also, add an option to include the helmet/mask or not.
That way, you can show up to five unique sets that can be any combo of armor you'd like.
However, your suggestion calls for something much more different than what I see the HoM to be now.

/signed on the condition that one of the 4 pieces must be chest (otherwise that would be too unfair to those who are not given the option of full 5 piece sets to choose from).
Doesn't matter to me though since I've already filled my HoM.

His suggestion is to make it still require four pieces but to be ANY of the four and not limited to just these four.

Aside from that, It can also lead to some argueing over privlages because some classes do not have helms for some sets while others have helms for every set.
