soul leech/backfire build

The build based on those 2 skills was made, to the best of my knowledge, to farm glacial stones in jaga moraine:

Blood 16
Domination 12

Soul Leech
Backfire
Blood Renewall
Vamp Gaze (or any other direct damage skill)

The rest is optional

does anyone use it to farm other areas ?

I was thinking about a build like this for PvP a while ago...It always came down to having no good way to keep up energy with out sacrificing lots of damage.

Also, blood isn't the best line to work with (Not that blood isn't good...Spoil Victor is one of my favorite skills) and Dom is limited. With your only self heals being things like Vamp gaze, or things that require you to target an attacker, like Insidious Parasite or Blood of the Aggressor.

TL;DR Bad attribute spread, causing lack of good selfheal/e-management, for a semi-cool combo that is only effective against people who only cast and don't deal much damage.

It's not that scary in PvP, as preveiling or hex breaker owns it pretty hard. A good dom mesmer is far nastier for screwing over casters IMO. Honestly, if it's something you really want to do, don't bother at all with soul leech and focus on dom stuff.

I only brought up PvP to show that I had actually thought about it...And it was for RA/AB where preveiling doesn't happen and hexbreaker is rare

Well, for both instances the dom guy is probably a bit more effective. Soul leech does less damage and sits in a really bad attribute line. Since you really just use it like an extra backfire, it's vastly simpler to use [wiki]mantra of recovery[/wiki], [wiki]glyph of renewal[/wiki] or [wiki]arcane echp[/wiki]

With that, you've got a bunch of free attribute points, a more useful elite, and more energy to use on tasty dom spells.
