I'm new to both Guild Wars and the forums so I figured I would ask this here.

I'm only at level 2 (ahaha n00bz0r) and I'm being asked to join the War against the Charr. Note I have no expansion packs. It says I can't come back, and say good bye to family and friends.

What exactally does this entail? Does it mean I will NEVER be able to come back to Ascalon, or does it mean that the game will change as I play through. I don't want to make a mistake. I checked the wiki for info on this war, but I couldn't find it.

If you need to know (I'm not sure if it helps any) I'm a Mesmer with Ranger as a second class.

Thanks in advance,
Locker Haxor

It means you are leaving the tutorial area for new players. You will now enter the real world. Sorry if I spoiled anything, but you asked =P
You will be able to go back to Ascalon, just a different one

If you accept, you will leave pre-searing .... for good ............ and enter post searing.

Pre-searing is like a tutorial. Stay there as long as you like until you feel comfortable with the game. After you accept that quest things start getting harder.

What Barbie said. And I'll add: being that you're a new player and only level 2, I would suggest not accepting that quest yet. You should give yourself a little bit more time in pre-searing to explore your character and GW more. That's just my opinion though.

Just saw other post. I've been exploring for a long while now. I just don't fight much hence not much experience. But hey I'll level up first.

Thanks!

I suggest leaving ~ level 6-9. Or stay there to enjoy the beauty of pre-searing Ascalon. After you leave, you won't see anything like it again.

Oh and not sure if you know, but mesmer is one of the tougher classes to get used to, especially as a beginner. So be patient with it. Mesmer class is based a lot on knowing what the enemy will do and which enemy does what. And with little experience fighting the enemies, its tough to know on whom to place you hexes. Once you get rolling, mesmer can be fun to play, getting the enemy to kill themselves.

Remember to feel free to use the 3 other character slots that you are allowed to explore other professions too.

Yes you will, but not till you get to the charr homelands in eye of the north (they even have red iris flowers there!)
