There is some contoversay about this, and with the IP logging that now happens are people who run two copies of GW on their computer at the same time (Ie for transfering items between accounts) and standing two monks in the same place with nice armor (Ie, Marhands) is that still.. ok? I know they are targeting gold sellers and stuff, but some of us still run two copies of GW at one time. for verious reasons.. its nothing diffrent then having two computers right next to each other on the same cable conneciton running at the same time for the transfer of goods between an account and a mule..
anyway, one time I thought that NC soft said awhile back that they where "Ok with it" as long as you dont find a way to run both chars on the same account at the same time..
Anyway this is ment to be a flameless thread.. gl I guess
lol

I am that example when I am at home. Both my brother and I play GW, we have our own accounts and own computers but have the same IP since we are on the same router. So it would look like we have the same IP to anet.

I don't think it would matter.
A-Net said it's ok, you are doing nothing illegal now as you haven't been before by doing it, and they stated it was fine to do it.
Also what pwnd said, it would just look like a family is playing anyway.
Basically you just run the two games at your own risk, if you mess up your PC they are not responsible and they do not offer any support for such actions, so at your own risk.

The link above is ok if you are comfortable using reg-edit but there is an easier and simpler way to run two copies of GW.
QUOTE=Ku Ku]Woah! Don't go bugging around with the inside of your pc if you dont know what your doing, there's a much easier way to get two clients up at once.
I use gwx2.41, its a programme that does it all for you and i can vouch for it being bug-free, so long as you get it from an offical site. All you need to do is create a copy of the guild wars folder in the same directory you have installed (so c\ programe files \guild wars copy) and whenever theres an update re-copy over the guildwars .dat file (otherwise it wont load the older version of guild wars)

I've used GWx2 with XP for quite awhile to trade between a 2nd account and my permapres. Recently bought a laptop with Vista
.
Nothing but problems now. GW runs fine (had to finally install with the -image option since it wouldn't accept the copies from my memory stick. Didn't like the dat file. And can't get GWx2 to work.
Has anyone gotten GWx2 to work with Vista
? Or is there another way to get Vista to run the two copies?
Thanks
Solved the problem - there is a new app that lets you run as many copies as you have accounts and they don't have to all be launched at once.
