Funny ways you lost Survivor

I poured a drink on my keyboard still works after though i just had to get a towel :P

I went to Shing Jea Arena.

Got raped by minotaur during a cut scene.

Not EVEN cool.

Lost my Rit when ANet had that major skill change update I didn't know about (80k from r2), and again when the H&H AI decided to go on strike and stop doing anything helpful!

I'm now 1/2way to r2 with my third reroll of this Rit. Like others, I've had a few scares when my computer starts running a virus scan - always when I'm near a mob! - and my screen minimizes and I can't get it back for like 2 minutes.

Going slow. I just need to complete Elona Reach (again! - and its proving harder than before for some reason - used to finish w/10 minutes to spare, and now I can't seem to get the second crystal until I've lost half my timer! wtf??) then do the Doppleganger and get my 50k bonus xp!! (Unless they've changed that encounter, too. I've always gotten it down in under 30sec.)

Then, its time to start capping Elites before I head back to Cantha and Elona!

Old Jade Brotherhood. When their parties had much more members (6..8 instead of 4..6)

Twice (Ritualist and Monk)

In both cases, it was due a to a heavy Dragon's Stomp spike.

Now Jade Brotherhood are a joke both in Hard and Normal mode. It's like they having less health or armor or something.

Not neccessarily funny, but while I was getting a run in Droknars forge the other day, i felt like trying to run with the guy and just try and see if i could do the first part ( at this time I totally forgot i had the title), when i tryed to through a cave of trolls, my computer froze for about 3 seconds, i got back, then i noticed i was stuck in a rock, with a bunch of trolls hitting me then i died.

As i said, not really funny, but it happened =(

Doing a quest in the jungles of Prophecies with my 880k+ XP ranger, I died at the hands of a bunch of lvl. 17 Jungle trolls.


Doing the Teddy Bear quest in Factions with my 400k+ XP Assassin, I find out I never set the skills on my heroes when no minions are coming up to tank and I get spiked down.

My wife lost it showing our friend (new to guildwars) on the Tryia mission and her friend using the catapult at the wrong time

Haha, vamp weps are the bane of survivors.

I've only made two half-hearted attempts at the title. :P The second's one's at R1, not doing anything cheesy, and still going strong. But the first one I lost due to getting sandwiched in by corsair patrols in Istan, of all things. I thought I'd cleared them out, but I guess some were just coming back from a coffee break or something. I was talking on the phone and barely even paying attention because I was so sure I was about to win all the prizes, and then suddenly the beach was CRAWLING with pirates. XD

I didn't even get a chance to map out. Luckily, the character had the wrong name anyway, so I was able to fix it AND try again.

I only tried for Survivor twice - first one died at like level 9, second made it no problems and is now in proud possession of "Legendary Survivor".

The first char died when I was dumb enough to go AFK in Zehlon Reach.

I return to see my necromancer, Koss, and Sousuke in the ground and Dunkoro trying to wand off a skale invasion.

yeah...the leader forgot to tell me it was HARD MODE! I run in expecting to grease everything in site and die in 2 steps.

I killed my first survivor on purpose because it was annoying trying to get rank 2, and now i am trying it again (not the same character) almost close to rank 3.

PC froze for about 10 seconds... while at full life and holding a pot that made me invincible when combined with the high armor of physical resistance and the prevention of adrenaline gain from Ancestor's Vistage.

Theoretically, I should have gained life even though frozen but when my pc regained movement I instantly took about 30 hits all at once and oddly had lost all my bluffs... *cries Was so close to Legendary Survivor...

My first "real" survivor was mobbed by the spiders in pre south of Fort Ranik. poor poor lvl 8 war...I wish I knew how on earth I died though...those things were only doing 1-3 dmg on me...weird...

Sadly, this is true for the most part.

I'll be honest though, I never actually failed to get the title, I came close MANY times and almost soiled myself on many occasions and I'm sure I have some mental trauma from it all but that's what I get for playing normally I guess.

What's funny is when I first learned of the title, I was on my Assassin working my way through NF and at the time I had no idea it was a one time thing, I thought it just reset the title every time I died so I kept farming for XP and never realized that it didn't work that way until someone finally told me... Oh the joys of being ignorant.

I should also note that if you play normally expect stress to really set in on you the farther you get into the title. The home stretch... Lets just say I didn't eat or drink much because I felt sick to my stomach from the pressure.

EDIT again!: Fox is absolutely right about PUGs! They are the very bane of this title, whatever you do, do NOT tell your group that you are going for the title for the simple reason that some choice people will try to pull mobs to you and ruin everything. My suggestion is, if you're going to play through normally, get max armor and heroes ASAP and then avoid anyone and everyone that could potentially want to ruin your work.

I'm still impressed with anyone who has survivor IF they played though the game first and didn't just go straight to a spot to farm OR EVEN WORSE ... have something farm for them.

When factions first came out I remember taking my ritualist though PUG's and healing my way through the game. Then I went game to a safe farming spot after henching my self to a good elite. Reguardless, PUG's are nerve racking when you go for survivor of any rank.

I was doing that farm with 2 heros in kaineng for "Uber XP" when i wallked out of Symbiosis' range. I died instantly and started yelling random crap in Vent

I don't know if you did this deliberately(sp?) but nice M*A*S*H refference.


I actauly caused a pretty epic lost of survivor title, not on myself. I was with my friends outside ToB and I launched the catapult. One was a Dervish and outta nowhere he just ran through.... I didn't have time to tell him to get out of the way.

BAM! Hit dead on.

He was level 19 too.

I was playing through Vizunah Square, and after beating the mission, a couple people didn't skip the cutscene. As I watched, the necro's minions were running loose and attacking everyone. When I ended up back in the outpost, I realized that my Survivor track was gone. I was pretty mad about it for a while, and it seems like this bug has been fixed since then. Now, I just look back and laugh.
