seriously how is this an offensive name?

My account was suspended because I have a character called "Ajax Le Batard", does anet even know this is a last name in france?, this is ridiculous.

Probably because of the '-tard'. Some people think up the weirdest things to put in place of the first syllable of the word 'retard'. I think you'll have seen a few, being on the internet. The F-word is a crowd favorite.

It's also a French word for bastard, and it could be taken as a frenchman insulting the greek hero Ajax by calling him "Ajax the Bastard."

There are almost more stupid complaints about name filters every day than ursan threads

Well that's a first. I've seen more offensive names in French (none come to mind ATM) that weren't banned (AFAIK).

But I'll say that it's not ridiculous. It IS an insult in French. Should get banned like it is in English... just because English-speaking people don't understand it doesn't mean it's not an insult.

You should contest the name block with Anet support, or on Gaile's wiki talk page. I doubt anyone here can help you in any significant way.

But this thread isn't about that. It's a discussion about how Anet is horrible and they aren't good and they don't know wtf they are doing and how we should boycott them and sell their skins on Ebay!!!!

"Bastard" isn't allowed in GW. Why SHOULD its French equivalent be? Both words are offensive (technically). But like most people have, he should be able to change his char's name. Seen it done before.

These Anet people take things too seriously.

If people don't even take the time to think about their names and how it would affect others, it makes me all the more glad my team mates are Dunkoro and co.

Pig Destroyer beat me to it.......Dan Le Batard, a famous ESPN journalist, would probably not consider his name a slander. Anet, get a grip and get some perspective.

edit: Edibbo Pekpek, a Grawl boss, is letter-for-letter an obscene reference to a certain female genitalia in Tagalog (what Filipinos speak), something I've brought directly to the attention of Gaile and had her acknowledgment.

Please take this up with GW Support. Submit a ticket about it, they are the only ones who can do anything about this - ie unban you, let you change the name, etc. The responses here state the most likely reason, and I'm closing this thread before it turns into a flamefeast or lolcats.
