Me and about 4 other guildies have been experiencing a fatal crash error in Guildwars. The error message claims that the vertex shader fails because of a "missing texture." It hit me when I was in Bloodstone Fen and other guildies while they were at other places. I sent an error report to ANET, been wondering if other players have been experiencing similar issues.

I get a game freeze about once a fortnight, I put it down to graphics issues, I presume some of the Direct X calls have problems with various video drivers causing something a lot like memory leaks. Nowadays I tend to play in windowed mode instead of full screen so if it crashes I can still force a quit by right clicking on it in the task bar instead of rebooting the computer.

I'm sure you know all the information on this page, but just in case, please do review it.
For those who are getting crashes with the "Vertex Fader" error message, we'd like to get a DirectX Diagnostic DxDiag from you. The way to obtain one is posted on the page I referenced. Once you have saved the file, please email it to [email protected] with an email that contains the error message you've been receiving.

yeah I have reviewed that page....doesnt seem to fit the problems we are having since we have been playing the game just fine until----
Have had lots of dc'd recently, just today got one as I finished the gate of desolation mission....dc'd then couldnt get the network...so it kicked me off to the login screen. Had the same thing last night as well.....just seems to be occurring more frequently now.

4 people in your guild alone got the same error? That's very strange. I have experience with this problem, it's generally the AGP aperture size set in the bios not being correct to your specific card. There are tons of forum posts on that, apparently 5000 series nvidia cards on a shitty VIA chipset running the 4-1 driver is a common combo and doesn't like GW, so the error comes and goes unexpectedly. Literally hundreds of people have reported the exact same error with the exact same fix. But 4 people in one guild is a different story.
Are you all on a common network? I've seen some of my guildies get similar problems (not the exact same one) by all using GW from copied network shares at their college. Again unlikely.
If you play in 3D with goggles or a lenticular screen, the latest nVidia Stereo drivers don't like GW (though the game sadly was never meant for stereoscopic Hardware, so I expect no fix there). The number of us who do play GW in 3d can be counted on one hand, but if you got the stereo drivers by mistake from the nvidia forums, I've seen that cripple systems with the same error you got. Again, 4 people is not likely.
I'm actually stumped. Please post your solution when you find it, I'd be interested to know how it works out.

Hi, there,
Another way that you could help is to send your ArenaNet.log file, which, if one has been constructed, can be found in the GW folder on your computer. Please send to the [email protected] address.
Thanks.

Not sure what the problems are caused by - but I've been having lots of lag spikes this last week, to the point where I've stood immobile and watched mission timers count down. Its also true that not all the time the traffic indicator hasnt shown red when this has happened.
I've also had network disconnects - usually in explorable errors but in most outposts I've seen largely orange/red traffic indication for most of the time.
I've checked my connection to my ISP and my in-house cabling and all was ok - however the problem did seem to lessen today. Perhaps a build problem in Thursday/Fridays update?
P.S. I'm running on a P4 2Gb system with a 512Mb AGP 8 Ati graphics card that until this last few days has been as sweet as anything.
