N/W Non Melee

From what I've read, a N/W is a gimmick build if you're going melee. Some people say that you can just use some of the shouts or non melee skills a warrior offers, but is it worth it? Tactics has been nerfed pretty bad, and Watch Yourself is probably the best defense it can offer. You can try some of the blocking stances, but those have conditions on them as well.

So can someone offer up a N/W template or a reason for a N/W anymore?

No flaming about melee N/W, this is strictly non melee N/W

Wary Stance, Shield Bash, are both skills id use if I went N/W. You could bring Deadly Riposte - with good timing you could block an attack skill. If you could use it often while out of danger, that last buff to Heal sig made it heal abit more at lower ranks making it decent. 110 at 8 tacs.

Not really any build that revolves around an N/W. Just get any random one and add in some random defensive skills Tactics. I'd use 2 at the most. Still haven't went N/W in ages though.

i have rolled a N/W from time to time, and it's nothing particularly special. here's what i've run:

14 Curse, 11 SR, 8 Tactics

[skill]Corrupt Enchantment[/skill][skill]Parasitic Bond[/skill][skill]Reckless Haste[/skill][skill]Insidious Parasite[/skill][skill]Balanced Stance[/skill][skill]Disciplined Stance[/skill][skill]Signet of Lost Souls[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

oh, and don't run Heal Sig. you'll never be able to use it when you need it - if you thought you were squishy before, try getting hit by a Lightning Orb at 20AL.

all in all, Tactics works for a N/W, but there's nothing particularly good about N/W. it's constantly outdone by /A, /E or /Me (Smoke Powder Defense, Mantra of Concentration, Grasping Earth, etc.)

This is a PvE build I made up that I've used extensively:

N/W
Blood 12+1+3
Soul Reaping 12+1

"For Great Justice!" - Flurry - Order of Pain - Spoil Victor - Mark Of Fury - "Save Yourselves!" (Two optional)

Now, this build assumes that you're slapping on Dark Fury on a hero. If you are running with no copy of Dark Fury on the team you could either run it yourself or switch the elite to Order of the Vampire. (On a side note it really sucks that these two enchantments don't stack anymore.) You really don't want to run both Dark Fury and OoP on the same bar, though.

You run this with a spear and a focus or shield for best effect and the most adrenaline gain. It's a great comrade to the MoP/AP nuker build.

A word of warning is that if yours is the only Save Yourselves copy on the team you're going to attract a lot of enemy attention. However since the attention will be so concentrated to yourself, your healers (whether hero or human) will have little problem dealing with this. If you're unlucky, you can get spiked now and then, though. But dying from time to time doesn't really matter. Necromancers shouldn't be scared of dying.

This is the only viable N/W PvE build I've ever seen and it's only thanks to the insane shout.

So basically the N/W can work, but is pretty much shadowed by other combinations?

Why are you a warrior secondary? It synergizes poorly with necro primary. Go ele for glyph, mes for shit like archane echo, or like rit for the super heals.

But yeah the uses are limited.

DShot + Nat stride does, in fact, kick tactics' ass for PvP. that's just one of the only good Tactics - based nec builds out there.

hmm maybe elite in death majic, aura of lich, simple recive half damagefrom everythign but a toucher.

but dont know why use a necro tank instead of tank necro, for the added armor buff. unless ur using it for energy off soul reap ?

This is what I've been using in RA. Alot of fun for me.

OAFTYwDX1JPMG2D7uKxcpqKAAA

Curses 14 (12+2)
Soul Reaping 9 (8+1)
Tactics 10 (Just in case I get hit with weakness I don't lose 8 armor.)

[skill]spiteful spirit[/skill][skill]parasitic bond[/skill][skill]insidious parasite[/skill][skill]rip enchantment[/skill][skill]plague sending[/skill][skill]balanced stance[/skill][skill]signet of lost souls[/skill][skill]resurrection signet[/skill]

Pretty standard I'm sure. Got a 40/40, spear and shield. Parasitic Bond is a cover hex and self heal. Balanced stance spoils most spike chains. Plus I have a shield to switch to when attacked. I have survived and won matches because I was last one standing and melee just kept attacking me. But that's more their stupidity really. Of course if the team is caster heavy I'm not as effective. I will rip key enchantments like elemental attunement and gaurdian and others. Overall I think it's a good one. Try it out and tell me what ya think.

PvE I would go mesmer for Archane Echo.

Question... how does balanced stance spoil most spike chains. The only ones I can think of are smiters and KO warriors.

Edit: Missed the critical damage part.

Edit: Missed the critical damage part. Almost everyone of the spikes use kd as part of the chain. And mostly the next skill after the KD requires the person to be KD'ed. Add plague sending where the other chains requires some other condition which you can send back to attacker.

If I have a monk on my team I'm usually not even bothered. So I just put ss + ip on whoever is attacking the monk. If there is no monk and/or I see melee coming to me I cast ip first on them then bs. Then pb to cover ip. Then I cast ss switch to shield and stand there. Most of the time the attacker just wacks away and kills themselves. There are some who know to stop attacking and stand there. I just keep ip on them while I cast ss on other targets. It works most of the time. The main counter to build is mesmer degen, ele spike and interupt rangers. I always try to use cover if I can to counter rangers. And kite as much as possible for ele's. Mesmers I just hope my team will make quick work of them.

Then again, avoiding criticals helps avoid spiking from any physical class regardless, so it ends up making a big difference.

But like he said, the build doesn't look like it does much against ele's. Other than SS and Rip Enchantment, the skills don't do anything to hinder them. But it has some nice utility and anti-melee. Looks pretty solid at first glance.
