Quickslots for Consumables/Usables

Hi
Since consumables/usables has become such a big deal now I was thinking...quickslots for consumables!
You know those weapon slots, the consumable slots could be very simular to those. In the options menu (or where ever it sits best) you can decide how many slots you want to show on your screen, 0 beeing minimum and maybe 4 beeing maximum. You can then open you inventory and drag your consumable into the slot on the screen and voila, you have it ready for usage at all times. Shrugging off some DP, adding that extra armor, eating that yummy easter egg, adding speed to the entire party... All that with just 1 click without having to open your inventory, which can be somewhat stressfull if you're in a full blown battle and have to concentrate on surviving.
It would hardly take up any space on the screen and it's totally up to the player if they want it there or not, seems like a burden releaser to me

So what do you guys think?
Give it a thought ArenaNET!

I have thought about this as well. New PvE skills from GW:EN have bonus effects for being drunk. It is not easy to fight monsters, and have your inventory open to keep drinking. Most consumables aren't needed 'on the fly', but some are. Not needed, but I think it would be easy to do, and helpful to those that use the consumables.

Bleh. There is no need to add more things.

In PvP no consumables are used, and you rarely need to change weapons quickly.

Because of that, being able to drag and drop consumales in the F1-F4 quickweapon slots would be MORE than enough.

Click in consumable, drag to slot F2, drop in slot F2. Consumable is now bound to the F slot. Push F2 and the consumable is used once. Once the stack is used up, the slot is free again.

See? It's way easir to reuse what we have that to add new things.

Eh. Just keep them in one of your bags or your belt pouch (since it's smaller) and leave it open somewhere.

Enough slots in your Bags and Belt Pouch.

Just more reasons for people to flame. +1 before the thread gets locked

I may be wrong, as this isn't my idea, but I think you assume incorrectly. The OP isn't asking for a place to put the consumables. He is asking for a way to use them without having to open your inventory each time. For example, look at the weapon slot option. You have 4 weapon sets you can set. Press F1-F4 to change them. You do not remove those items from your inventory though.

@MithranArkanere:
I use all my weaponslots, putting the consumables there would hinder me from my normal gameplay which isnt really what I want.

@ogre_jd & Vitues:
The whole idea was to keep you from opening or having you inventory opened all the time... Instead of having to open or have opened your inventory and having to doubleclick it you can place it on the screen and just single click it available at all times.

Quickslots for 30 minute buffs, or stuff which remove DP? Why?

Do you guys really use consumables that often?

Not /unsigning or anything, I'm just wondering what the point of this would be?

Makes using consums a bit more comfortably, other then puttign ever first the button for the inventory and then searchign where your stuff is in your bags ect. double clicking then the item first ...

with quick slot u just click 1 button and the on the button setted consum gets automarically used ...

Scratch this post and my previous comment about keeping the belt pouch open. Obviously I need more coffee - I was mixing up the F5-F8 inventory keys which open the whole panel with the behaviour of F9 (ie, opening a free-floating panel of just the bags). I really gotta learn to stay away from forums before my 4th or 5th cup of the day. :P

Consumables are far to over used these days. Nobody even tries to do anything before using consumables.

Perhaps what could happen is at the top row of the backpack, each square could be assigned a shortcut, and that would be a quickslot for whatever item you'd want to use. This would be an easy way to activate ID kits, Salvage Kits, scrolls, consumables, miniatures, and any other items you'd like to access quickly.

So many people who are notsigning without even understanding the suggestion/throughly reading.

This would not replace a weapon slot, but add a new button that acivates a consumable, in a similar matter to weapon slots (that was just a metaphor so people would understand that the button can exist, without removing the consumables from the invintory).

Can't you open up a mini-belt pouch window or something (either F7 or F8) and just have that in the corner.

@MirkoTeran:
Lazyness and effectivity are 2 completely different things. Just because you want to acces something quicker, with more ease and that helps you control your actions in a more stabel manner does not mean you are lazy.
If you for example work as a cleaner and you have to mop 2 floors on a stair and the mops are at the basement. Wouldnt you, on your way up, take 1 mop with you to the 1:st floor and the other one to the second floor to be more efficient as you work yourself down?
Or would you grab 1 mop, go up 2 stairs, mop, go back to the basement, get another mop, go up to the 1:st floor, mop then back to the basement?
It's not lazyness, it's effectivity.
Do you know you can place the panel openers in the menu on the screen by clicking and dragging them from the menu?
Is that lazyness? No! It's for easier access, more effective and a way to get better control over your interface.
Would it bother you that someone else uses it? As I stated that it should be a chosable option in the menu or where it sits best...

@Proff:
I find your reason very...lacking... Dunno what it is... After readin it again I think I have a clue...
