Alright, this has to do with the auction threads mainly found in high end and sell forums. I was wondering what the purpose of it is. I have a vague idea, that it is the minimum someone would sell for, but if so, why not just make it the s/b?

Anyway, my question is what is the purpose of the r/b?
Could someone please enlighten me.

You appeal the clients with a cheap start price, hopping that they will overbid each other, going beyond the normal price.

Okay, so in essence, if you plan on trying to get something with an r/b on it, you should just bid at the r/b? because essentially it is the minimum they are going to sell it at?

It's generally what you could have it for IG, maybe a bit more. so if you buy it over the r/b, you probably better off buying it IG. That maybe explude really high end items

No, because using a low starting bid functions as:

1. Free bumps.
2. More interest in your thread, as it will have multiple bids on it.
3. Could start a bidding war.

It's annoying as a buyer to encounter a r/b that's higher than the s/b...but it's definitely a valid strategy.
