Charm Monster skill
Fear Me!
I'm not tired of my lazy phoenix, which refuses to fly but two feet then rest. But I would like to be able to actually charm some things that will require effort and dedication beyond merely finding and then using the 'charm animal' skill. Charming a pet is one thing;find said pet, charm, then level, whoopee. I would like to be able to charm a monster, permanently, much like charming a pet. Of course, you won't be able to charm monsters with a basic social structure or that can craft things;grawl, mursaat, etc. or bosses for that matter. The existing pve monsters already have their templates, so no new ones need to be created, and there already is the pet ai to boot. The charm monster skill should work much like the EOTN title track, where it is broken down into segments where each segment is filled through points. For a rough example, and the percentages are in listed order, so 40% must be acquired first before the later 60% can be done, and the sub-percentages are also in order requirement as you read them from top to bottom:
40%: (this requirement must be met to be able to even use charm monster)
~~20% observation: monster time on your minimap with no interaction
~~20% observation: monster attacking you(even suffering monster specific attacks as a req)
60%:
~~20% successful use of charm monster(each cap counts as one point)
~~20% use of skills(it won't exactly do that 100% of the time, and sometimes, it will attack you instead)
~~20% leveling(yes, you have to cap more than one monster and level it to meet the reqs)
At 100%, said monster will be tamed and you will be attuned to it as well, it will use skills 100% of the time you command, and not attack you, neat huh? The charm track bar is relative/linear. For instance, charming a level 20 griffon will be easier than charming a level 30 siege wurm; the griffon could require lets say a figurative 1000 minutes of observation whereas the siege wurm would require much, much more. What do you guys think? This is a departure from charming a boring housecat and actually getting involved with your charming saga. This will allow players to have some appreciative uniques out there other than "my crab is dire, your crab is elder".
~My apologies if my point was not clear. It was my first post, and though it looked good at first, I had to go back and elaborate a little more.

So how do you improve this "title track"? Explain moar plz
Luminarus
Im sorry I got no idea what you want.
I personally think they should put loads of pets into areas and have a skill that charms them briefly eg:
Charm Animal
10/1/10
For 1 Minute target animal becomes under you're control.
Like minions except it would be more ranger like...
But I dont think that was ur idea.

I don't like this idea at all.

I have no idea what you are suggesting, but going off your thread title, I want to Charm Glint! Or Rotscale, or Vengeful Aatxe, or Mallyx, or...
@Luminarus: How would that work in PvP? It sounds like a PvE skill. Something like mind control, or a "charm monster" would be neat. PvE-only, and with a timer like you said, naturally.

controlled monsters is not the job of a Ranger. A Ranger stays at wild Beasts only
lol, charm lvl 30 siege wurm, you're insane >.>
at that what luminarus said is also crap im, ranger pets should be a permanent pet, that you have ever at your side and not only like a MM for a certain time and you have to recast the tame skill every minute -.- When a pet is tamed, then its TAMED!! and not after 1 minute again ever and ever again in a sudden a wild beast...
Beast Mastery is flawed and needs imo a total reconcept, somethign similar, what I posted in an other Thread about Skill Lines, which need all Buffs ect.

yes, a pve only charm monster would be very nice. May for limited time. The better would be an Elite Pve Skill : Charm Monster. Not all monster should be capturable though.

The only monsters a ranger would be able to charm would be:
- Great beasts
- Spiders
- Insects.
And since they have their own skills and may have levels avobe 20, this would be way too much.
The only possible way would be to remove their skills and decrease their level down to 20, making them just like other pets. And, of course, no boss charming.
That is, just the model.
I've seen some people wanting to charm a Kvendulf:

But all the troube just for that...?
Hm... maybe in GW2 Norn can tame Great beasts or something like that, but not for now.

You lost me with your percentages....where did that come from?
All i understood was that you want to be able to tame the "wild beast monsters" so to speak. Ex: Skales, Spiders, Scarabs, etc. But no bosses or monsters with a social class. Ex:Mursaat, Tengu, Charr, Naga, Undead, etc.
What I understood, I would like, but not gonna happen.

It would be a fun skill to be able to charm any animal (not Grawl or Char) and be able to use them until you hit the next town, but not permanantly.
And Seige Wurms would work fine becuase they don't move.

I wouldn't mind being able to charm one of those huge siege turtles, and maybe even ride on it. That would be sweet! lol But yeah, charm monster would be cool because it would give a bigger variety for pets.
Lexxguard
Im gonna charm Glint.........hey what? She's not a boss.
