I think the gold trim should only be applied to the members of the guild who actually participated in the competition which they won. Then selling the guild is pointless except for the crappy tags

Also, if this maybe helps you, here's how much each guild was purchased for:

[eF] - 14000 ectos
[DF] - $800 cash

keep in mind, when I give this info, anet still can't do anything about it as they have no real proof. don't try to /report because it was sold for cash, as you don't have any proof (and neither do I, other than a source telling me in-game). But hey, their money, maybe they do deserve the cape trim if the're willing to waste $800 cash. Maybe I might spend 10 bucks to buy it, but that would only be with the purpose of re-selling, haha. 800? Nah, so much more you can do with that amount of money...

That'll teach those players for purchasing guilds and ruining their respect/prestige; I suppose that the sellers are also destroying the prestige of the guild by selling it, though.

It's almost as shameful as selling guild invites.

Don't trims only go to the top guilds in the ladder or the guilds who won best cape design(like way back when anet held it) and to the guilds who won championship. I always assumed the top guilds lost there trim when ladder was reset. With the exceptions of winning the championship(the big trophies in gtob) and the one guild who won best cape design contest way back when.


Edit: Selling invites isn't shameful. Shoot it is great way to earn money. If people are dumb enough to buy there way to a guild that is soon going to be seen as crappiest PvP guild ever then why not sell them the invite....

yes... only like 12-15ish gold capes out there. probably only like 8-9 still have people who still play the game (as in to where you might randomly see it some day)

While I don't defend the buying of a prestigious symbol by someone who didn't earn it, I do think it's up to the guild leader whether or not to sell it, and up to the buyer if they'll spend money for it. I see people with cape trims all the time. Many of them aren't very good, likely added to the guild after the trim was acquired. It means nothing to most of us, so why meddle with it. It's not my business what they do with their guild, just as it's no one else's business what I do with mine. I don't believe in the class-envy fascism you guys are advocating.

I would accept a suggestion that cape trims be granted to the accounts of competing players, and not their guild. That would be a more significant symbol and could not be bastardized in this way.

If there's something wrong with the system, advocate change, but don't punish those enterprising enough to profit from it.

Yes, my guild does. But how does your comment contribute to the overall discussion? He is only saying remove capes for the guilds that have been sold.

I believe the only experience [rawr] has ever had with selling invites and such has been elsa, who bought in for like 500k or something, so I heard, way back when they first got gold capes. awowa didn't like it much, but since it already happened he let it go and maid everyone promise ONLY to accept an invite if they payed 80,000,000 ectos.
