My touchmouse is recently going a bit funny on my laptop, just wondering the causes / treatment that can be applied to it.

Thanks.

Add proper mouse and use touchpad to roll very small cigarettes on.

Seriously, touchpads are crap.

Failing that, define "going a bit funny" ^^

Nah -- I mean the sorta...well, substitute for a mouse that's usually towards the bottom of it.

Seems to be working perfectly now, though.

But if possible can anyone answer this (it's about laptop keyboards):

Mine on the laptop is currently 100% inresponsive, so I'm using an external keyboard.
Anybody know what could of caused it?

Hmm, spilt anything on it recently? Keyboards are prone to gather dust and stuff - desktop keyboards are easy to clean, laptops notso.

When you say unresponsive, do you mean nothing happens when you press a key at all? Or is it intermittant? Possible knock could hav jarred the keyboard connection loose - and with lappys in general, a trip to the PC doctor is in order. Unless it's out of warranty and you don't care

I agree. Touchpads are finnicky. The best option is to just use a normal mouse, or to get a really expensive laptop with a better touchpad.

Actually, I lied. The best option is to use keyboard shortcuts and macros. But let's not even get into that discussion...

Also, why do you need an external keyboard? Is it just your pointing device that is broke, or your entire keyboard?

If you fiddle with the computer while it's booting up, the laptop keyboard/touchpad often locks up and won't work. That's generally solved by restarting though, so I'm not sure what's wrong with yours :P

Tried smacking it a bit and random button mashing? Not even joking.

Since your keyboard and touchpad share many of the same systems, they may have a common problem - such as a bad power source or crack in the circuit board. You could dissassemble the thing to have a look-see, but if you were the type to do that, you would have already.
But, most likely, your only choices at this point are to try to fix it yourself - not that hard if the manufacture (such as HP) has good instructions on their site, and you have a few basic precision tools. (available at any Home Depot, Canadian Tire, etc.)
Or you can take it to a local repair place to get fixed. Very expensive unless under warranty.
Or you can use an external keyboard and mouse - until something else goes bad.

For your touchpad if you want to you can figure out what kind of software it is using and then find a place to reinstall it. Mine went weird on my late last year and I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the software for it. Could be you got a virus in the software that has caused it to go haywire.

For the keyboard I have no idea what to tell ya.

Did you turn it off?

On my laptop if I press Fn+F1 it'll turn touchmouse off.
