Mesmer HM Farming Raptors! (Me/E)
ReZDoGG
This is a build for a Mesmer that will work just as good as E/Me Sliver for farming the whole Raptor Cave in HM (including killing the boss). It takes advantage of using the Elite "Signet of Illusions". I haven't seen a guide or anything so I decided to post one. I am sure someone has figured it out already, it is just that not everyone knows... Anyways, I decided to post a small guide for those few people. It can still complete a run in 3 minutes. I've seen other Me/E Raptor builds, but they are not all that great since they don't use full Earth Magic and they waste attribute points. This is basically the same as E/Me, but uses an Elite. This Mesmer build does not use any attribute points in Earth Magic (Earth Magic = zero)

*Cast Channeling.
*Cast Stoneflesh Aura and Armor of Earth.

*Renew Signet of Illusions as often as you can, especially before renewing Stoneflesh and Armor of Earth.
*Renew Mantra of Resolve and Channeling before approaching the Boss.
*Cast a fresh Stoneflesh and Armor of Earth just before pulling boss.
*As boss approaches (make sure you renew Signet of Illusions), cast Magnetic Aura, Sliver, and Grasping Earth, then renew Signet of Illusions.
*Target Boss and attack with staff to help keep him from running as it is important to kill the boss first, before he kills you with monster skill.
*After boss is dead, your skills will be recharged including the long recharge of Magnetic Aura.
*Repeat usage until all Raptors are dead. When there is only a few left, target and attack raptors that are being targeted by Sliver to keep them from running.
*Pick up drops
*Make sure you keep Mantra of Resolve and Channeling up at all times. Also make sure you always refresh Signet of Illusions before using any Earth Spells. You can also use Channeling with Signet of Illusions to give you an extra 20+ second duration. Always use Magnetic Aura just before the boss closes in on you to protect you from Wild Strike, and also helps block the almost constant spammed Disrupting Dagger that will lower you energy if they attempt to interrupt one of your spells.

Yeah, I had a prematurely submitted the guide on accident, it wasn't finished. I fixed the pic by using URL and URL pic instead... for Armor of Earth.

I know this probably don't deserve a guide, but why not give those lonely mesmers something to do? My mesmer hasn't been used much at all, except for major storage... but now there is a way to give him something to do, along with getting skill points that I could use.

yeah I was sure people already where using something similar or exactly alike, but no one posted a guide to let everyone else in on it... I never seen any mesmers going in and out of Rata Sum, so I thought for sure no one knew bout it. But hey, now your Mesmers can farm Festival drops.

i took out grasping earth and replaced it with ether feast.
Just lure the raptors to a wall on their left side and they won't run away anyway
This changes makes it safer to kill the boss.

I have been playing with a Me/E farm as well.
I use the Earth Magic with Glyph of Elements to get up to 14 level.
I find magnetic aura to be worthless. Better off going with Mental block, as you will ALWAYS have 50% block, rather than 75% 1/3 of the time.
I have also started running Signet of Midnight rather than either blocking skill. Aggro some little guys, then go after the boss. When she comes in range (make sure to have a fresh Stoneflesh up), blind her, and then ether-feast to recover some health. Timing is critical, but it is doable, and just making sure sliver gets her is important. I have been using a totem axe, but I am gonna start looking for an Enchanting mod for a spear, so I can keep her aggroed.
One important thing to remember when using Mantra of Concentration is to not attack unless necessary. You have 20+ nestlings using disrupting strike on you, which can drain your energy in a manner of seconds. Only attack to set aggro, then hit a move key so that you are no longer attacking.
Once the boss is dead, you can renew your Stoneflesh, then sliver armor when it expires, killing most of that group in no time.
I have seen the grasping earth used in some builds, and never understood it before. I will have to try it out and see what happens.
One more thing; since you have a high Illusion Magic anyway, Illusion of weakness might be worth considering. The spike heal could well save you if the Broodmother doesn't die quick enough.

Well this way actually gives you 16 attribute points for all your spells, instead of having to use 12 in earth, which can be a waste of points. You can use a good amount of those att points into fast casting or inspiration... which can help out alot. Magnetic Aura helps to block attacks so your energy doesn't drain so much from the highly spammed Disrupting Dagger. Magnetic Aura definately helps, and can be kepted up most of the time... mainly when it is needed most. When there are only a few Raptors left, you really don't need any blocking. Mental Block is good, but not everyone has asuran skills or high enough rank. 75% block compared to 50% can be a advantage and make quite the difference in saving energy. You also don't use Magnetic Aura until just before you pull the boss. You don't have to use it while running and pulling all the raptors towards boss... Fast Casting also helps on interruptions. Ele would get interrupted alot more cause of normal casting times of Stoneflesh... 1 second cast of Stoneflesh can save you alot more energy, as there won't be as many landed attempts of disrupting dagger.
You first kill the boss and everything will be recharged, and you will have another magnetic aura to use when you need it, but by then most of the enemies should be dead... so it last long enough to whipe out the most of the enemies besides the last few. You really don't need any protection or heals if you get used to killing the boss first, once you do you will have no problems at all doing a clean run and not have to sacrific something for a skill that ain't so much needed. All you need to do is just wand the boss and he will stick around long enough to die. Using Grasping Earth will also keep the boss around longer to keep inflicting damage, as sliver will still be targeting him while he walks away. Grasping Earth also helps when there are about 4-6 enemies left, and can help to finish them off quicker by keeping them around longer, as well as giving you time to target, wand, and keep them around to die. The mesmer sliver build is definately better than the E/Me version, as your attributes are well used. Using Fast Casting helps alot and can speed up the run by having those faster cast. You also have higher Inspiration for longer durations of Mantra of Resolve and Channeling.

So far, the version I run uses Mental Block over magnetic aura. Personally, i like that Mental Block has better longevity. I also replaced Grasping Earth with Radiation Field to see how that worked. SoI Radiation field does -6 degen and disease (-4 degen) for 20 seconds. So far, I like it more for the raptors that try to spread out, but can't heal due to health degen. Grasping earth seems better for preventing them from running away at first, but slows down once sliver is on downtime. Radiation Field tends to have more killing power down the stretch, especially when its a small group of raptors remaining.

Yup, Mental Block is good, just that not everyone has the asuran skills... Like I don't for my mesmer I just ran him there to test it out. Also, if you want to speed things up and take out grasping earth, you can take Arcane Echo to keep sliver up longer with less down time.

Good thing about EoTN is you can run to any of the towns. Can either have someone run you there, or run with heros and henches. Just set up acouple warriors or paras with Charge! and Fall Back! Or you can Echo Shadow Form with a Mesmer and run there yourself.

Hello there, first posting in this forum. My main chars are mesmer and I am now using one to farm based on your build.
I confront the following problem: Everything works great up to Boss arrival. From the moment he is part of the group at me, my health decreases high speed and I die, that although I do cast fresh everything before to aggro him.
What do I do wrong?
Thanks in advance for help and sorry also for my english (I am french).
**** Edited for update *****
In your combo, I have replaced Grasping Earth by Inferno (fire magic). With the 16 Attribute Points in Illusion Magic, it deals 155 damage at once! And its recharge time is rapid enough, so that you can alternate with Sliver Armor. With inferno, I have time to kill the boss although my health decreases high speed. But for the boss killing, I get it in normal mode only. In hard mode, i still do not achieve to kill it.

Grasping Earth is mean't to help speed up the killing by slowing down enemies, that way sliver will do enough damage to kill them off before they get out of its range. Grasping Earth can be replaced with anything you would like, such as AoS or Mental Block. I also don't recommend using AoE damage spells like Inferno while using Sliver in HM, it will make the enemies flee, and it can slow down your run...
For the boss, make sure you wait to cast sliver until just before he starts attacking you (after pulling all raptors in cave). Best thing to do is, as soon as you aggro the boss mob, target the boss before using Sliver, and attack him with staff or wand to keep him from running away. Quicker you kill him, the better your chances of staying alive... It is fairly easy to do this, and can be done every time without getting killed. You shouldn't need any heals, but if you are still having trouble, you can try replacing Grasping Earth with [Ether Feast] or even better, use [Illusion of Weakness]. Just cast Illusion of Weakness upon entering the area, and will be no need to renew it after it triggers. Illusion of Weakness is a fail safe type of heal, it will heal you when your health drops below 25%, so no need to worry about casting any heals...
Also, make sure to always refresh Sig of Illusions before casting any spells, but im sure you know that

Also, make sure to always refresh Sig of Illusions before casting any spells, but im sure you know that

put points in earth magic and do the same thing... replace signet of illusions with any skill you see fit.

try the 24/7 sliver version Torrent i slightly modified the original build that was used for raptor farming to speed it up a bit.
Switched etherfeast for EbsoH and switched the blocking with the skill from the asuran
Stoneflesh aura; Armor of Earth (or have a shield with a +45 while enchanted mod and recieve physical damage -2 while enchanted); Glyph of renewal [E]; Sliver Armor; Ebsoh(R3 is enough); Mental block (i suggest atleast R5); Channeling; Mantra of resolve
16 earth; 9 e-storage; 9 inspiration magic
And rezzdog sorry for hacking you're thread

My version with VIDEO
[MeE Raptors HM;OQZEAYwDmHJUVK8VBXmLyDZCEBA ]
tbh its exactly the same as my current Ele version, only i swapped out radiation field for signet of illusions and tweaked the attributes, with a little earth in there as back up (so long as Illusion is maxed and you have enough Insp for MoR the rest don't matter)

Nemesis Elite
Not sure if this was posted, but at any rate, you dont need armor of earth to slow you down, stoneflesh is plenty. Blessed insignias on all 5 pieces with sup Illusion on head and sup vigor on chest with attunements on the rest.
A standard caster spear, sword, axe etc with +5 energy, 20% ench, A Shield with -2 while ench and +45 while ench takes the edge off of twisting jaws from the broodmother.
Heres the code and enjoy

Why are you guys not using Mist Form?
I'm at work, so this is off the top of my head:
12 Earth Magic, 5 Inspiration, 10 Water Magic, rest Fast Cast
[Mantra of Resolve] - Prevents interruption
[Channeling] - Make up for energy lost from Mantra of Resolve]
[Glyph of Elemental Power] - Boost Damage
[Armor of Mist] - Running Skill
Cast 1-2-3-4 at cave entrance and run through and aggro everyone. You CAN take damage so try to avoid getting caught. Aggro the Broodmother...
[Mist Form] - Blocks ALL damage except for Broodmother's Twisting Jaws skills
[Sliver Armor] - What kills things
[Ebon Battle Standard of Honor] - Boosts damage
[By Ural's Hammer!] - Boosts damage
Cast all these in order. Broodmother going down will recharge your skills. Recast Channeling and Glyph of Elemental Power for the hell of it. Recast the 2nd half of your bar as they blink out. Two waves of sliver armor should take out about 30 raptor nestlings and the broodmother. Don't sweat getting the last two. Just zone out and repeat. You can also use the skill [Intensity] of you are missing one of the damage boosters.
Also, don't waste time looking for leechers and doormen, that is really dumb. Just walk out into Riven Earth, walk back into Rata Sum, walk back out to Riven Earth again. Now whenever you /resign, you will be right next to the gate. The build works even better with an elementalist (sub [Magnetic Aura] for [Glyph of Elemental Power] since lack of fast casting makes interrupts more of an issue).
That's what I usually do. If you have a real hard on for killing those last few stragglers or if your lack of damage boosters doesn't even get you over 25 kills, just stick [Air of Superiority] somewhere in there for extra skill recharges.
