magical effects on all weapons and armors?

Just an idea, after my friend (WOW player) talked about how guild wars is really dull. In WOW almost all the weapons and armor have some type of magical look. I think that the FDS is a good start, but I think all blue, purple, and gold weapons (or just gold weapons) should have magical effects. Also 15K should have a magical effect to differentiate between regular armor.

magical effect = no inherent effect, but makes your stuff look cooler.

Some people prefer more realistic looking things.

You mean visual effects?

I think that the Fiery gladius was an approach to that.

Some people do like to have the stats of their equipment 'hidden' in PvP, but in PvE people like to show off shiny stuff.

I'm not against it, but I doubt it happening in GW1.
Probably to be seen in GW2.

yeah, let's pull the entire gw2 dev team off the task and get them to redesigning every bit of armor and weaponry in gw1

As far as being doable, I doubt it would be harder than assigning a particle effect to an object. In other words not hard. It would be cool if third birthday let you having glowing items or something but I know we're getting yet another dose of mini vermin redux.

If done in excess (celestial weaponry) I don't like it. But the more subtle ones like the Silverwing bow are nice.

You know something that could be changed? Hit animations.

All weapons hit with the same circular animations. The same animation in all criticals.

That animation should show damage time, either with color or shape.

Imbalanced!!!! Hhahah... Haha... hah...

Eye candy can never hurt. Wheres my lighting bolts swarming my sword when I mod it with lightning damage, or icy spikes from a cold damage mod. Hopefully GW2 will be a bit more flashy.

Well, in a way, making too many ideas magicy and shiney does have a sense of imbalance, if everything was flashy, the game would look really cheesy arnd crap.

Agreed with Shuuda. Some people (myself included) prefer more realistic looking stuff (chain mail armor, long swords, etc). If you want celestials/fiery blade axes, etc, there are plenty of options for that already. Please don't push your ascetic style onto the existing weapons that I like.

I love you. Just not as much as I love Bekki <3

On-topic - hell no.
Some of us want to hit things with an actual sword. For the WoW fanbois who want teh zomg sh1ni3z!!!11!! there's more than enough lame, unrealistic fantasy skins for you. And some of them are pretty damn expensive so you get to have fun grinding pee vee eee for them too.

Well, a slightly noticeable frost over the blade (like if you put it inside the fridge for some time) would not be something unrealistic for a weapon dealing cold damage.

Well, I guess it could look pretty. Though I'm not sure I'd want to advertise my damage type so obviously.

I want a giant Buster type sword with lightning bolts flying from the sharp sexiness of it so I can crushslice all of Stormlord Alex's cats.

But yeah I don't think Anet should remove their focus off GW 2 to make GW less boring than it is.

I would guess that everyone having weird glowing effects on everything would increase the graphics processing. If this was the case this could cause considerable issues in busy outposts.

Whilst some effects might look nice, I think it is better to have only a few items with what would be excessive flashery, that way they are more special.

Woa... it's subtle, but I think you're trying to say WoW has better graphics than Gw.

You've actually played both games, right?
(Disclaimer, actually, I've not played Wow, but I've seen enough screenshots and videos to form a strong opinion)
