If we were to post every good build here we would be here all day. Get somewhere in the game (i.e, at least lvl 10, lvl 20 if you're playing factions), give us a profession and the campaigns you own, and we can help you.

we can't just give you a good build for the game and it'll make it a breeze for you. as marty said you need to be a decent level and we need to know which profession to give you a build for. not only that, but there is NO build that works everywhere all of the time. each area is set up to destroy certain types of skills, groups, farming builds, etc. if you want a good build for a certain area, post which area and which profession you're using.

Assassin's can go with /Mo or /Rt for hard res', I guess. /Rt also provides weapon spells which can help a Sin's survival and damage. Really, though I hate to say it because of what goes in there sometimes, check out the Campfire.

I'd suggest just start playing. There really is no need to do all this research if you are just started. If you want to make an assassin, please do so. If you get bored with your asssassin after 5 hours, just start over with any other profession.

Remember, you can always change your secondary later on on the game, you can always change your attributes, so you basically can't do anything "wrong"

If you are concerned if you are going to be able to get into other parties with your character, I'd suggest rolling a Monk, because in any part of the game, they are very much used.

Some helpful pages if you DO want to do some research are on the wiki's. Check the starter guides.

Good luck, and remember to have fun

Also, if you really really want to play assassin, go for it. However assassin isnt the easiest class for a new player as you get in melee range and have lower armor. So expect to be dying quite a bit (well expect to die a bit no matter what profession). Assassins take a little bit of finesse and cant be played like a warrior. Also keep in mind, occasionally it may be hard to find a group if you want to get into a pick up group. So, if you get frustrated, try out one of the other classes and see if its a play style that you like.

Basically, the game is easy enough (in Normal Mode, at least) that you can play whatever class and/or combination that floats your boat. Build-wise, experiment with the skills and equipment you have to see what works best for you. There is no need to be overly concerned with what is "best".
