Alright so I've just started playing GW again after a few months of not playing and theres a few things that I think could help speed up and benefit the gameplay. First of I think there should be a [Merchant] henchman, that could fill the spot of any other henchie; but instead it'd be a merchant. Same old merchant as in any town that you could buy and sell from. Now I wold mention even more different NPC's as well, perhaps material trader etc. etc. I just think it could help in areas like the Deep, Urgoz, or DoA where you'll be spending 2+ hours probably.
Secondly, I think with all the little things GW has updated with and parodied other games in (such as kilroy stonekin; WoW) its a shame they haven't done anything for Diablo II. Considering for a long time critics claimed GW was like a Diablo III online. I think they should've done some simple easter egg, like one of the zones in Shing Jea Island (a grassy fieldy area) would just be full of nothing but level 36 Afflicted Bulls, like atleast 50 on your radar at once. There could be a HoM monument for it too, and a chest if you wanna go that far. It doesn't even have to be a zone in Shing Jea, it could be a rare scroll that drops. All the party would need to do is zone out somewhere in HM and then use it, and then summon a portal to talk to and go through.
I think it'd just be fun fan fair and maybe a little last hoorah for GW before the GW2 beta, I figure it'd be easy to code too... considering all the elements already exist they just need to be put together. Except maybe the modeling of a HoM monument, but the Anet staff is good at putting crap together quickly *cough*icecrown*cough*
A few minor suggestions.

merchant hench or "menchie" would be incredibly stupid. Why bring him when you can pack on another damage dealer on your team. You should have runes of holding on your bags and should be able to hold out until the end of your elite area.

Nah. I'd make the chantry of secrets have a Consumables NPC.
It would have all 'common' consumables: Resurrect Scrolls, Perfect Kits and Transfer Starts, but their 'specialty' would be:
- Merchant Djinn Lamps!
Use it, and a Djinn with the appearance of a diamon djinn appears, and by talking to him you get a shop, it will not follow the party, and will no be targeted by enemies. After 30 minutes it vanishes.
That would be really helpfull.

Proportionally, the rank would have to be 2.
