My pet disappeared?

I had a Melandru's Stalker since I chose Ranger as my second profession in pre-searing. I was doing a mission called Into The Breach, and when I entered the breach, my pet was gone. I thought maybe it was just for the mission because it involved fighting an assload of charr, but when I left the breach and came back to old ascalon, my pet still wasn't there. Any idea what could have happened?

You need to keep the skill [wiki]Charm Animal[/wiki] on your skillbar for your pet to stay with you.

In order for the pet to become active in an instance you need to have the skill "Charm Animal" on your skill bar.

Ahh, thank you. That's stupid though.. I want to keep my pet so I don't need to charm another animal. It's basically just making me keep the skill to take up space on my skill bar. -_-

If i didnt take up a skill slot , then everyone would most likely be running around with pets just for the fun of it

By the way, when you put Charm Animal back on your skill bar, your stalker will be there again, you wont have to charm another. Just to clear that up in case you felt you needed to get another now.

Oh, and also, if you want to keep your pet alive, you also need [skill]Comfort Animal[/skill] or Revive Pet?. Without it, when you pet dies, you will be without the pet until you rezone.
