Does anyone else think drop rates of everything in FOW/UW should be lowered?

Ecto farming is a waste of time and always will be, the only thing decreasing drop rates would do is make the rich players with stacks of ectoes even richer while the average farmer will still be earning the same amount of gold/hour.

I believe that you are trying to protect what you have already. I been doing FOW and UW since the begining of the game and right now, FOW even in hard mode gives you CRAP Drops. The community automatically assumes that you are either on one side or the other, and those that think realistically are automatically assumed to be rich farmers, who want to stay. I never said that there is a economic problem atm, I am saying there will. Like I said I prefer ecto being 5k rather than 15k, but prices will drop from 5k and i doubt anyone can make money for 100g-1k ecto. You make more money soloing.
BTW you get around 3-5 ecto per run normal mode.
and BTW I have only had the game for 2 years. SO I started in 2006 and I only stated farming around 8 months ago.

Lower the drop rates on ecto and shards? Why? Myself and other people who do fow/uw hardly get much whether we're in normal mode or hard mode. If anything Anet should lower the drop rates on white and blue merchant fodder items. /not signed

Back when GW was released it was possible to acquire 100 ecto's a day solo farming. Some people early on became very very very rich and are still rich due those early 3-4 months after release. I know one individual who collected over 1500 ecto's in under two weeks. He still has that amount since with FOW armor for 13 characters. Early drop rates means it's possible for an average player to get FOW armor from simple every day farming. If anything it gave an incredible edge for those in on the builds and drop rates early on.

I think that reducing drop rates would benefit most those people with multiple stacks of ectos. Do they really need financial help? They're a minority, probably <1% of the population.

Ecto prices have gone down so slowly that the drop rate is, when looked at in view of "the big picture," just fine. Eventually the current stockpile of favor will run out and then prices will stabilize once again. (Unless they repeat the double SS/LB weekend too soon - LOL)

I don't know on what server you play but my ecto drop sucks, often getting none in a few smite runs, hm or nm doesn't seem to matter.

Sure, I am all up for more people being able to afford obsidian, but the idea of ecto being under 1k gives me a shudder, and it will be. I could be wrong but, it just sounds like to me you are one of the soooooo many who bought a bunch of ectos at a high price then got stuck with them so, now you need to bitch and hope Anet will take them away for a while so, they will go back up and you can profit from it.
Ectos are far from the best judge of the economy. Besides we have had unlimited access to UW for quite a while now and ectos are holding strong the only thing that will truly make them go down in price is when the demand is no longer there.
If you really want the price of ectos to go up "beg" Anet to offer new armor that requires ectos or a new super cool weapon skin that can only be crafted and takes 250 ectos to make. Then you will see ectos price rise again.
Until them play the game to have fun not to be a greedy bast...

I used to have 20k in gold 50k in ecto and 3k in shards, before that character got deleted and that is why I claim I have done UW runs and still have under 10k. Even with what I had achieved with that previous character I hadn't reached the 100K CAP.

Where are people seeing this decrease in the cost of ectos? It has maintained the same price for at least a year. It's usually only 2 different increments, 4.9K or 5.5K (vendor price), however recently I've seen other prices, but it still doesn't go below that price and as even gone up to 6K at times. So if you're talking more than a year ago, then yes, price has dropped a bit, but it's stabilized for a long time.
