Anyone who says anything other than elementalist is the most profitable........is showing their noobdom.
Ele's are the only ones that can farm ALL of the best farms in EoTN.......be it raptors, vaettirs, destroyers, in hard mode as well as normal mode. It is also the best boss farmer, bar none, due to sliver armor.
Monks can't do it, and necros don't even come close.
Since EoTN, the force has been very strong with elementalists.

but also i have a monk and can easily farm raptors and i believe there is a monk build for vaterri's (not sure) and anyone can farm destroyers at glints there is a thread on how every profession can do it as ritualist 2nd profession also u can solo most boss's with a 55 monk/necro with spoil victor and monks come in first just by the amount of area's to farm and 600/smite and 55 ele's sadly cant beat that

I guess i should have mentioned, if you're not farming in HM, you're not really farming.
BTW, go ahead and show me a solo monk raptor farming build for HM that doesn't take 10 minutes. (I'm guessing something along the lines of Mo/Me) Or just SHOW me a monk vaettir hard mode farming build.
They don't exist, and saying they do doesn't make it so.
The only thing a monk truely has going for it anymore vs other professions is 600/smite and to a much lesser extent, 55s.

i love necros and monks for farming. i really, really do.
however, they can't hold a candle to ele farmers for the obscene diversity of spots an ele can hit.
eles can 55, terratank, Shadowform, etc.
necros and monks kick ass for farming, but ele has them beat as a farming class for the sheer amount of stuff they can kill.

Ele, everytime it's an Ele as the prefect farmer
Monk has been relegated to second as an "Old School" farmer and I would put an assasin ele in front of a necro now, the main use for necro was farming greens which are now worth just about ZERO
Warrior/rt is still a good option in a few places too.

All classes can farm somewhere, somehow.
Choose one that you like to play.
You will find more builds and easier farms with Monks, Necros, Rits, Eles, and Wars, in no particular order.

Elementalist bar none, followed by 330 rit, followed by everyone else.
Even though a 330 rit can farm anything with the same template, Elementalist can be adapted to almost any farm in the game. Not only is it as easy as Load template then farm, they also do the same farms as other classes more efficiently. Even though the farms may require more skill and attention for the elemenalist, the rewards are far more worth it for the time you put in.
330 rits are still good for certain farms, but are not as adaptable as the elementalist. They can also double as rangers for the splinter barrage farms.
55 monks are more for beginners now. Their method of farming was as easy as it gets. 55s that used Spiteful Spirit/Spoil Victor wether it was necro secondary or primary was a step up from the 55. 600s see more farms in duos and hero assists for dungeons these days. As rewarding as those farms are, they do take alot of time to learn and do. Basically monks are more for training how to 330 rit nowadays.
Warriors are more safe mode farmers. They can run UW very easily with VwK, but still not nearly as fast as an elementalist or Rit. They have the advantage of non-enchant protections, but usually must rely on another classes elite for HM farms. Which means they will not do nearly as much damage as the primary class, so their farm times will take as long as a 55s. Warriors cannot rely on melee damage in HM because their DPS wont' cut it, especially with HM AI and regen.

For me it's my Sin........when I was going after FOW for my monk 55 farming sucked i wasn't making money fast enough, switched over to my Sin and started doing Elite Tomes and raptor farming......what it took me 3 days to farm with my monk was farmed in 4 hours, it took me 21 days to farm my FOW.
Esoteric Mesmer
Shadowform Sin! But is interchangeable as A/E or E/A, or if you have time to waste the tedious A/Me

I have to go Ele, then Rit, then Sin, then Warrior-Monk-Necro.

People say monk because with a monk you can easily solo/duo SO many places.
Ele is still second...besides just because they can do all of the good EoTN farms isn't a good reason for why they are the most profitable.

1. Elementalist- can farm almost anything
2. Warrior- can farm a lot of areas including areas with enchantment stripping
3. Ranger- Trapper for crying out loud, surprised nobody mentioned it yet...
those are for solo farming of course... for duo Monk+Necro or Monk+Monk is the best along with duo Trappers probably... for groups you have even more options...

Ranger? RANGER?! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! You crack me up. My main character is a Ranger and he's been around since 2005, and is incredibly poor sporting only one set of 15k armor and some moderately epic bows. Rangers' only real good place to make money is UW trapping - when you find a group. And that is slow profitwise compared to what other classes can do. I'd say from most profitable to least...

If I am supposed to pick from only those 3 then Monk would be my choice.
If I am allowed to choose from all the profs then Rit is my #1 money maker for farming.

Ele is still second...besides just because they can do all of the good EoTN farms isn't a good reason for why they are the most profitable. And an elementalist cannot solo many places? Last i checked my elementalist can farm more areas than my monk, not to mention takes less time per run. Ok, so farming with a monk is easier. Its too bad monks take longer to run a farm than an elementalist does. Ok, so an elementalist can do EotN farms, that means they have more places to farm. So yes, being able to do the EotN farms is a part of the reason why they are the best farming profession. And in terms of profit, Elementalist is also more efficient at farming than a monk. Why? Because an elementalist's farming run is shorter than the monks. Which means they can farm at a faster rate, and hence do more farms in a time frame than a monk can.
Elementalist can also solo boss run like no other with the E/A SF/Sliver armor farmer, and yes, better than an A/E because higher damage sliver = faster boss kills. This translates to elite tome farming, which can still sell for decent money these days.
As stated before, monks are great farmers if your first learning how to farm and want to make some money. When you've got the hang of that, then you go to something like Necro or rit sacrificing survivability for speed. But in terms of profit and efficiency, elementalist hands down.

Really monk farmers aren't that great anymore unless you're counting 600/smite but for most spots rits do that better. If I had to pick out of the 3 listed I guess I'd go monk. My actual list would go
1. Ele
2. Rit
3. monk/necro
4. sin
5. everything else
6. paragon

My personal list:
Elementalist (because they can farm all farming spots in EotN) Ritualist (because of Rezzdog) Monk (55hp/600hp) Necromancer (55hp) Warrior (UW) Mesmer (Lots of e/me and mo/me farms as a me/e or me/mo) Dervish (130hp) Ranger (Rangers Beacon) Assasin (The only reason they are above Paragon is SF) Paragon (@#!%, if you are Paragon get Ursan)

i say a monk. i 55 farm eotn/kryta and the first city, plains of jarin all in hard mode and make anywhere from 5k-15k(this includes elite tomes and weapon mods) a run.i id all blue and purple drops and scrap the white for material which brings in good money seeing as how your materials fill quickly!

On sheer versatility, I'd probably say Ele. Regarding the ease of each run, I'd say Monk or VwK Warriors in certain areas. Ritualists are quite fast and versatile, too. Rangers are versatile, but not all that profitable in comparison to the rest.
Ele --> Monk/Nec --> Rit --> War are probably my rankings.
