Need Help Making Money
Dobbo049
hey guys
First i wanna appologise, i bet this question gets asked alot and i have searched for it but everyone has drawbacks like "they dont have nightfall" or "they cant afford to get any decent runes or armour"...
When it comes to money in guild wars theres two kinds of people...
The people who have to haggle down from 1K because 1K is a lot of money to them and they dont ever seem to have it...
And the people who have soo much money they can buy extreemly expensive things like certain minipets and obsidian armour...
Iv never had a good money making method, iv tried lots of things includeing soloing UW and farming with my 55 monk, but the problem with soloing UW is with one wrong move ur out and it cost you 1K to get in, also because its a small area you can farm even if you do complete it you are never garrenteed any ectos. So in the long run u didnt make much. With 55 monk i just cant seem to find a decent place to do it, i used to farm hydras and mountain trolls alot but you still dont make very much out of it...
I Used to do runs too like the Droks run when it worth more. but today you dont make much out of that either .. but thats still probably the best method of money making i have .. even though its still not great.
I also thought about green farming but there arnt many soloable ones these days that are worth anything...
... Im happy to give anything a try iv got no limitations, i have one of every character, im happy to run about finding skills, buying runes and items to complete a new build, ill take my chars anywhere they need to go, do any missions or quests you name it. I just want a good solid method of making good money fast...
I dont expect anyone to write a walkthrough but if anyone could give any good farming ideas and a build to look up on pvxwiki id be very greatfull
Thanks

arnt they faction farming builds?
Probably a dumb question but...
...can you make money from faction?

Do what I do:
- play the game (yes, many people seem to not do this much)
- collect drops and sell them to merchant (gold items are no exception)
- do missions again to get drops (involves helping people beat them)
I don't farm and I will brag I've spent over a million gold on Signet of Captures for getting Legendary Skill Hunter on multiple characters. Try what I do sometime. Plus, you'll be helping others and not get bored in 30 seconds.

how?
i maybe wrong but it just flicked through it and it seems you just sit back and tell the heros where to go, so its not like your farming for drops...

Dobbo,
If I may ask, what do you consider good money? Reason I ask is because everyone has their own definition of what is sufficient. As example, for me, between storage and what I have on me, I have 22K, which is more than enough for me to buy any needed items (runes, mods) to adjust for gameplay and buy an Ecto now and then as I work towards Chaos Gloves.
Aside from that, I 330 Rt farm in HM for Termites and scales in Plains of Jarin and the Restless in Fahranur, The First City. Two runs each a day, which takes me about an hour total (15 minutes each) during my lunch break. On a good series of runs I can net 10K in gold, merch sales, rune selling, quick trading Gold items, selling any tomes, and selling lockpicks I find.
To some that's not a lot, but that's why I asked the original question I can only offer what I do for my "farming". But if your definition of good money differs from mine, I'm sure someone else can offer other areas, or other class builds that might give more profit.

150g from quest reward every 50 secs if you're good. Plus you can drag leechers who will pay 100g. Usually theres 2-3 leechers, but some people can just use 3 heros, and 4 leechers. That would mean in about 450g every minute, so 11.25k in about 25 minutes.

I found Fissure of Woe to be a good spot to make money. There are always people forming clear teams. Join one, as either an Ursan, or a balanced (monk, necro, elem, warrior). You can get Obsidian Shards to use or sell, but more importantly, are the various stackable drops. Dark Remains, Ubral Skeleton Limbs, Gloom Seeds, etc. all drop frequently, and stack. This means you can gather a lot, and not take up a lot of inventory space. Since they sell for 60g each at the merchant, you can make a good amount of money off them. Plus, you get large amounts of Glittering Dust. The Dark Remains salvage into 11-16 piles of Glittering Dust, and Dust drops itself. If you don't have a use for the dust (armor, consumables, etc.) then it sells for a decent amount due to people using it for consumables and Chaos Gloves.
That is the basics. There are also rare drops that can sell to other players for a good amount of money. Things like Chaos Axes, Gloom Shields, and the new Obsidian Blade are all possible. And since most groups doing clears have someone paying entrance, you won't need to pay the 1k entrance. At most, you would pay 125g as you part of the entry fee. Even when I pay the 1k entrance, I walk out with 4-5k, and that doesn't include the sales of rare drops or materials.
I also find FoW to be fun, and not mindless farming solo. And if you complete the clear, if gives you a monument in your Hall of Monuments.

I'm not sure if I read your post right...but if you DO have NF then you can get the free chests at least once a month. They can get you about 20k a run through, and that's before you decide to sell off any max mods or weapons you may get. If you have a few characters...that's 20k a time, each
Also, as others will say...Raptor farming in GWEN. I do it on my Ele, using the following build
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/Me_Raptor_Farm
Put ward against foes in the optional slot as it helps when the boss tries to run. It takes a bit of practice, but is easy once you get the timing.
I also farm for Glacial stones on my Ele, and you get a lot of other good loot dropped. Build as follows
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:E/Me_Glacial_Solo_HM
Again, it takes a wee bit of practice, but easy once you get it
Also another quick and easy farm http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:W/...Destroyer_Core
You don't NEED Air of Superiority for it to work, but it does get a bit hit and miss. Still, the cores sell for quite a bit and I'm always getting tons of lockpicks there, which you can sell for a little less than the trader in towns.
(Quick EDIT: The Destroyer farm will cost you a fair bit of cash to set up, for the runes you need to do it...but you'll reap that money back within a few runs)
Now, I know farming isn't the most fun thing to do. But if money is really THAT tight for you where 1k is a lot of money...I'd say spending 30mins on anything like the above is probably better than moping that you have no cash flow
There are lots of other places to farm, lots of other ways to make money. You can Vanquish, or just play in HM. Re-do missions, also in HM if you want more cash. Standing around in a town, complaining that you have no money isn't going to fill your bank, however (not saying that's what you do yourself, but I've seen it often).
Good luck

Get the most in-demand items with the most overpowered build = money.
Examples: tons of UW farming builds, yes it takes an investment to learn but once you learn it's free money forever.
Ursan DoA, highly profitable... some rides free sometimes you'll be expected to chip in for consumables.
Ursan UW/FoW clears: Ok... personally a bit too much like work for the returns but something to throw in there to mix it up

Having money doesn't meant you don't need to be frugal. In fact, the reason most people have money is because they ARE frugal. The people who buy the new shiney stuff for 100k+200 ecto when it first comes out never hang onto their money for long. The people who negotate and nickel and dime trades are the ones who actually make money in the long term.

As others have said, for each character you have that's completed NF you can get ~20k per character, once a month doing the free chest runs. I dont do it, as I cant be bothered to get all my characters through, but its easy and fast.
I also find tome farming in HM to be a quick fix. At least when I was doing it, I was pretty assured of getting a few elite tomes within an hour, the popular ones selling fairly quickly. Used to net me ~20-30k an hour. Some 3-4 months ago though.
I used to farm UW too, though this was quite a while ago. I cant comment on how effective it might be now, but it was a run I always enjoyed doing. If you're farming, there's simply runs that will feel too tedious too you. You'll have to decide which ones they are and simply do the ones that you find more enjoyable, else you'll burn out of farming altogether. You could power trade as well, though certainly not like you used to be able to. Requires a fair amount of initial investment and a willingness to invest and spend a lot of time on channels.
I never found simply playing the game to yield anything substantial. Some pocket change sure, but to pick up multiple elite armor sets, large numbers of skills, various multiple sets of equipments for multiple characters and heroes, obsidian, you really have to farm. If you have all 10 characters through NF you could earn 200k once a month, and that would add up over time, but its the only "play through the game" method of funding anything substantial I ever found.

That link will tell you where all the free treasure chests are in Nightfall There's maps also. Most are very easy to get to, but the ones higher up take a little bit more effort, though the rewards are higher.

and can u do it well with a 55 monk? You can do it with a 55. You wont be able to kill every boss with every farming build though. You'll need to find which you can do with which build, and then modify the farming build to suit the makeup of the mobs you encounter along the way or, the mob around the specific boss in general. You'll also be looking for bosses that are as close as possible to a portal, with mobs that wont cause your chosen build too much trouble, and it takes some trial and error.
I used to kill Jerneh Nightbringer in the Floodplain of Mahnkelon all the time with my 55. You'd get elite necro tomes and Nightbringers. Most of the time I'd just give a hero or a friend the Nightbringer, as greens are a hard sell these days, but its a decent green and a bonus drop while you wait for the tome to drop. You had to be careful as you could get interrupted and you also had to avoid a certain heket group on the way to the boss. Sometimes it was a tight squeeze getting by.
Edit: I used my 55 to go kill Exuro Flatus in the Domain of Secrets for elite ele tomes, now that I think about it. It was a different build than the one I used for Jerneh Nightbringer, but you've of course got your staple 4-5 55 skills.
My E/A would kill Tomton Spiriteater in Mount Qinkai rit elite tomes. You need a few running skills to get to Tomton. The E/A was just too silly easy, though I find the 55 to be much more fun and versatile.
There's certainly other bosses a 55 can do. Many monk bosses arent too bad. Just pick your favorite 55 build, make note of the 1-2 skill slots you feel you could do without, and then experiment all over the place, substituting those 1-2 skills out or the skill that might save you from dying when you fail a specific run.

Best of luck. Check wiki for boss locations and simply go out and test things. At one time I had a mental list of a ton of places to go for a 55, and my template has all the builds, but I just cant remember offhand at the moment.
