Whats The Difference Between Elite And Average Armor?

It's more rare to see someone in non-elite armor.

basically, if you do not have elite armor you are seen as a noob no matter how well you actually play

I think the best looking armor for rangers is normal druids armor dyed green.

Yeah, stat wise they are the same, but elite just looks well...a lot more elite. Its for prestige really.

I would say about half of the elite armors look better than their regular counterparts, and half look worse. Still, I like having them around because they suck gold out of the economy and add variety to the toons around me.

Oh and before you make a thread asking the same question about FoW armor, no, it doesn't give any bonuses either.

I was feeling the same way as the OP.... around 3-4 days after I played Prophecies back in around June'05. Then I found out it was purely aesthetic, Firmly I was content with the thought that I'd never waste my money like those "other" idiots. How ironic.

Really I don't buy elite armors for the e-peen or whatever bull some of you are comming up with. I buy certain 15k armors because I like the way the look more so then others. I want to look at something cool while running around killing things. Really the people I think are doing it for the e-peen are the ones with almost all fow dyed black and some chaos gloves for who knows why? Lets throw in a bandanna too!

Hmm, gotta agree with you on that. I started buying 15k armor sets because they looked better, back then it was only 1 elite armor set but only if it looked better. Now that the HoM is there, my sin and necro are buying up 5 elite armor sets total. Darn the perfectionist in my.

Exactly! I only buy armor based on if I like the look of it, not to "show off my money" or anything (hell I wouldn't be showing off much wealth I've only got 20k in storage after my last armor purchase )

I didn't buy a set of Vabbian, or a Dread mask because it's expensive, but because I like the look of them (note: I did NOT use those 2 together).
