ive seen people on here suggesting that there should be Ebon Dragon Swords and Shocking Dragons Swords aswell as the FDS and IDS, and i think i have an idea that could make this possible.
make a new sword: the Dragon Sword. it looks just like an FDS/IDS except it is grey (undyed) and has no animation, just the dragon's head with the two curved 'filaments' coming out of its mouth. you can then add a fiery, icy, ebon or shocking hilt to it and get the corresponding sword, eg: Dragon Sword + Shocking Sword Hilt = Shocking Dragon Sword.
i admit it would take the making of new animations for the ebon and shocking ones, but that probably wouldnt take very much effort. other than that i see no reason why this is a bad idea other than "i dont like the FDS/IDS already i dont want more" or "no i dont like the idea" and they arent really proper reasons...

Completion is all.
If there is one... well... it's not important. IF you add a second... haha! That's another thing!
But such a sword would be better if it existed as 4 swords you can find in each campaign:
- Prophecies: Icy Dragon Sword. Dropped by certain Imp groups
- Factions: Ebon Dragon Sword. Dropped by certain Echovald statues.
- Nightfall: Shocking Dragon Sword. Dropped by certain Diamon djinns.
- EotN: Chaos Dragon sword. Dropped by certain prysmatic dragons. (It won't deal chaos damage, it would just look like the rest, but purple)
Hm... that would do... yeah...

Often wondered why those didn't exist, noting the IDS was not released until a few months after Sorrows Furnace came out, which was at least 6 months after game release.
I think that the real question at hand is if they were made, would at least 10% of the gaming population consider using them?
Also, current FDS/IDS cannot have the hilt salvaged off of it. What you are suggesting would allow for there to be a sundering or vampiric (just 2 examples) dragon sword.

- Blindness
- State of matter
- Sound (since sound moves faster and farther through solids than liquids or gases)
Hm... anyways. What else could it be?
Shocking Dragon Sword would be nice. Lightning animations are sweet when done correctly.
Ebon swords.. well, counter to the posts here, I pictured floating jagged rocks around the same metal center of the Icey and Fiery version, and let's face it, a bunch of jagged rocks going through you would hurt.

I haven't a clue how ebon would work, but then again, Earth has always been the red-headed stepchild of the elements when it comes to figuring out ways to make it do damage.

You know what the sad part is? There are probably dozens of people with the modding knowledge that could make this happen with ANet only needing to implement their work. No hyperbole, so easy. Heck, if I knew it would get used, I might even take a stab at it.

It's lot of microscopic shards of vitreous felsic lava. They can ignore armor becuase they go through the smallest holes in armor joints (Something specially hard in the Warrior Elite Gladiator set, XDDD).
It's baically sharp dust. Something that cannot be dodged or blocked. Not even resisted regardless of the strengh of th armor...
So probably the best choice would for Ebon would be something like a dark dust floating around a brown twin dragon tongue.
