Para Vs Warrior Hero in PvE
Ju-On
I've been trying to work on a AI warrior build for a hero. Having little success I recently asked for imput over on the warrior section of the forum. The most common advise I got was to forget about having a warrior hero and go Paragon instead.
So, I am a Ranger (interupt/condition), I am currently using a Healing Monk Hero (with elite skills) and a Fire Ele Hero (with elite skills). While the fire ele has some very nice AoE dps damage, I was wondering if a dps warrior would round out my three heroes in PvE doing normal H/H exploring/quest/dungeons/rep points farming? Or would I be better off building a Paragon? When I say build, I mean taking the time and gold to cap elites and buy skills etc. From what I have read about Paragons thus far they are more a defensive style of profession, although I am unfamiliar with the profession so this may be a gross generalisation, my apologise if it is.
So, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for a good build for a Paragon PvE hero? And specifically a good dps build Vs a good defence build. Which is better for general H/H PvE?

might not be what you are looking for, but a mesmer hero does wonders. i usually bring one.
I set mine up with a split between domination for interrupts vs casters and illusion for anti melee (inepitude, clumsiness, wandering eye)
i've found a lone hero paragon to be very mediocre. A lone human paragon can be amazing due to the pve skills but heros can't run them.

Tyla
Para. They don't aggro everything in the map.

While I have toyed with the idea of building a Mes, I don't think I need one to fill out my H/H due to my character being a Ranger which specialises in interupt and conditions spreading. I'm more interested in building a hero that deals dps.
Also what ruins and sigs, aside from survivor and vitea, should I be looking at getting for my Para hero?

Personally being a nuker ele I always bring a paragon with "They're on Fire!" to help reduce overall damage to the group. If your ele hero is set up with some nice catch-fire skills than I would recommend that. Additionally you can give him Anthem of Flame so that almost all the next attacks will cause burning.
Otherwise I usually set him up with the general gamut of anthems. The ones that allow for energy regen, health, condition removal, etc. Be cautious though because most of them are very high energy cost.
So I guess my take-away message is set him up to fit your playing style.

paragon is a ranged warrior with shouts that makes your party never die.

Minus Survivor and Vitae? I can't say...
Maybe the only Paragon one? Your hero should have IAS up permanently anyway. Which should be Aggressive Refrain.
When I run Paragon heroes I usually run the following. --
Leadership -- 10 (9+1)
Spear Mastery -- 13 (11+1+1)
Motivation -- 9 (8+1)
Remainder in Tactics
(Please note I'm not on Guild Wars at the moment and can't be bothered getting the proper attribute split)
Song of Restoration
Shields Up (for those places where Rangers hurt like in HM)
Watch Yourself (still good for energy)
Aggressive Refrain
Anthem of Flame
Spear of Lightning
Vicious Attack / Signet of Return
Ballad of Restoration
Steady DPS and support. Just thought you'd want a build with that...![Wink](../../Img/wink.gif)
Not ran a Paragon for a while so I can't remember if BoR and SoR can maintain AR.

SoR and BoR are 10e 20r each, using them together should be able to maintain AR.
My typical hero setup usually will include a para with a build similar to tyla's, and a mesmer. Although the hero (at least mine) doesn't constantly use his anthems to maintain AR. I need to micro that for him. On my para, I still run para heroes, though I maintain AR.

I just set these hero macro keys to my number pad as this --
Skill no. 1 2 3
Hero 3 - 7 8 9
Hero 2 - 4 5 6
Hero 1 - 1 2 3

Centurion's insignia will ensure your hero still has 86 armor even with cracked armor from AR, provided they meet the shield requirement.

Don't forget +10ALvs*type* shields!
I think it allows the stacking, anyway...

that, and they might actually hit a target, instead of running around like the most indecisive "it" to ever play a game of tag.

Thks for all the help. I'm trying the build Tyla recommended with the hotkeys. Wow what a difference! Since replacing jora in EoTN with a Para, everything dies real quick and all my group remain intact
Sorry for the noob question but I've been meaning to find out what IAS means?

It means Increased Attack Speed.
Usually from Stances, Echos or Enchantments. The best one for a paragon is [skill=text]Aggressive Refrain[/skill].
Definately worth using.

That's because Paragons are so imbalanced. Regardless of PvE skills.
Spears, defensive / offensive buffs that are unremovable, stupid energy management...
Your IAS question has already been answered, though.

I've found that if you're going para, you should go for another.

And in most places the op can drop his/her monk hero for another para and just use the henchies.
Other use for para heroes is to bring stuff like song of purification, expel hexes, empathic removal, mirror of disenchant, etc, according to the area.

Yes, please.) and Song of Restoration are notable. Aswell as Cruel Spear because in my opinion, Cruel Spear is one of the strongest attack skills for a Paragon that's elite.
