Skipping Cinematics
Angel Killuminati
Now, how many times have you completed a mission, possibly told everyone to skip the cinematic when it appears, only for one person to watch the entire thing and really frustrate you in the process. So frustrated in fact, that you disconnected the game, log back in and continue to the following outpost? Well, it's safe to say I've done this numerous times! (also, correct me if I'm wrong as I've just woke up and my memory is hazy, you lose all unclaimed items doing it this way?)
So anyway, wouldn't it be nice, to have a button quoting something along the lines of 'Skip cinematic, leave party, and continue to next outpost' ? Big button I know, but I'm sure something shorter could be made. I only thought of that long one because new people would have to be sure that clicking that button wouldn't harm your mission completion.
Wouldn't it just be nice to leave that PUG group at a cinematic sequence, when only one member decides to sit through it all and watch it?! The skip button is fine atm, but you still need EVERY PARTY MEMBER to accept it, and re-watching every cinematic again from a campaign can get quite boring. I'm sure other members of your PUG group wouldn't mind you leaving the party without saying goodbye. Atm, the only option is to log out of the game, log back in and then map travel to the next outpost...
Your thoughts on this?

Or, suck it up and deal so you don't lose the items. There are many times that I wanted to skip the cinematic but couldn't because someone went afk or didn't skip. I just dealt with it, and now use H/H only groups. That button that you suggest would be used too much and could not be put in with all cinematics in the game *the ones that don't have you going to an outpost after*.
Yes, I can see it now...
-presses skip to outpost button-, NOOO I LEFT THE MISSION!!1!!14!!!!one!!

You don't lose unclaimed items because your party watched the cinematic.

well some people want to watch the cinematic because they want to know what happens in the STORYLINE. They put cinematics in so people can watch them and understand the STORYLINE better and only people that either have seen the cinematic not to long ago or PvP fans or runners dont watch the hard work that Anet puts in to these cinematics
Darkobra
I'm pretty sure you don't lose unclaimed items for this. I'll check later.

Not this crap again! We've been thru this so many times in the past, and I doubt ANET is going to do anything about it this time. So this is nothing more than a QQ thread.

You seem fit and should only play single player games or go to WoW or something.
If you don't like playing with people, which is what an MMORPG is all about, then just go play alone in single player somewhere.
People have a right to watch cinematics, especially if you "PUG" a lot of people are still new, or haven't been to a certain plae to watch the cinematic.
And you don't have a right to tell them to skip, unless you are running them.
If you hate pug then don't do it, you must enjoying throwing fits about pugs.
If it helps just think about when you first watched the cinematics, it's not fun watching the cinematics and waiting for it to end just to get yelled at for not ever seeing it and wanting too.
I do agree however that you should be able to skip the cinematic and that making you load to where ever it would take to, instead of having to watch it.
It's also a nice time to afk to run and do something.

Eh, I don't mind if people want to watch the cinematic afterward. Some people haven't seen them, others like to watch them. I've seen the same ones a few dozen times.. I usually go get something to drink, go for a smoke and/or hit the restroom while they're checking 'em out. Really doesn't phase me all that much.

What about just being patient for three minutes?

There are always people that want to see the cinematics, I'm sure you also watched them the first time you finished storyline... If you want to skip them go with heroes/henchies or guildies =) Problem solved
N1ghtstalker
i hate it -.-
especially those long factions cutscenes -.-

Here's a thought. Quit whining and QQing about this kind of crap. Some people are new and like to watch the cinematics. GET OVER IT. It's pathetic if you rage and have nothing else better to do than to whine over something like this.

Here's a suggestion. Keep Guru up in the background while playing GW. When you are forced to watch a cinematic, open Guru and start another QQ thread about it.

i for one think they should just add in the options add one that says auto skip cinematics.
Skyy High
I highly doubt the cinematics are marked as "end of mission" or "middle of mission", so you're asking for a decent amount of coding to differentiate the two (can't have people skipping to the next outpost in the middle of a mission), because you don't like looking at a 30 second to 2 minute cinematic. You're on a computer; open a window in the background or do something else if you really can't stand to wait.

There are some people who do care about the story of this game. Those people like to see the cutscenes because they tell what's going on. Especially when playing that mission for the first (or second) time.
Sword Liger
Thats a bit deep man, you get frustrated over a tiny thing like that. Go get yourself a drink while the cinematic is playing or something.
Fear Me!
/notsigned; even if the mission cinematics were the same quality as the Guildwars intro where Devona kills gargoyles and they were at least each 30 minutes or more. You only skip when you're in a party with live people, and even if you all agree at the mission start to skip the cinematic, rl instance>gw;someone's baby starts QQ, car crash outside, fire, etc.
kazjun
Wish you could rewatch cinematics whenever you wanted like in GWEN. If they put that in then people could skip or not and watch again whenever they like.

Who doesn't want to watch the pretty movies again ?
