Question: Collectors Editions still valid?
8bitchris
Hello there.
I've been thinking about trying Guild Wars. I'm an avid game collector. Years ago I bought the Guild Wars collectors edition but I never installed or activated it. I kept it more as a collectors item. I did the same for Factions and Nightfall.
I never bought EoTN.
I've been itching to try something new, and I was wondering if these old collectors editions will still activate, or if I need to buy a retail product.
I asked a co-worker who plays the game, and he told me no, that all the special content included with the Collectors ed, was gone, and it was treated like a regular install. but that people will pay top dollar for an unopened box, for all the maps, and books, etc.
Is there any reason not to open these if I really plan on playing? is EoTN compatibile?
Sorry for the silly question.

You should be able to enter your key and get the divine favor ( you lucky person ) >.>
They are worth a bit if they are unopened. You can download the game through the website anyway, you don't even need the disc. But you do absolutely need the access keys you have.

there should be absolutely no problem at all, and all your collector's edition versions should still work in the exact same way.
Although, might I suggest selling the unopened collector's edition versions so you can get your money back if you don't like the game.
But, if you like unique looks and some extras, go ahead and open them up and yes, EoTN will be compatible.

1 up and 2 down
No they won't work so feel free to give your CE to me.
But in all seriousness they will work.

since the game is still active (and there are a few ce's still out there) there should be no reason why they wouldnt work. However, there isnt much to the collector editions outside some ingame things--so you might want to consider selling them instead (the prophecy ce is going for quite a lot---check ebay)....so if you really dont want them, there are those (see above posts ) that do.

Wow. Thanks for all the fast responses.
I've been wanting to play the games for a while, but I couldn't bring myself to open the pristine boxes. and I also couldn't bring myself to pay $ for something that I already had (the retail versions).
Anyways, I'm going to go ahead and open them. I collect for myself, not anyone else. And i'll still have the packaging to display, etc.
I'm not new to MMOs, but I am a GW virgin. So for the person that PM'd me "Don't open the CE if you're going to play for 3 hours and forget it", I wouldn't worry about that...
Anyone wanna hook up in game?

I dont mean to sound like a whining bitch, but there are people out there willing to pay $500 for proph CE, so if glowly hands dont exactly intrest you and lots of money does, then ive said enough.

Masseur
Sell for $400+ and buy the normal or platinum version for $30-$50 or so
Tayac
Since you're a collector like myself I'd say go ahead and open it.
I did the same.

Tyla
If you're not bothered about the Kuunavang / Varesh mini or the Divine Aura thing, sell it and buy the normal editions.
You should make ALOT of money out of it.
